I love it. Shame I will have to go all the way to Japan to indulge.
The tiara thing is downright silly, but after letting it sink in, I don't know, I kind of *like* it.  Something symbolic like that makes sense.
And the waiters.  Swoon. Love the lad with the Canadian accent.

 Always something for every orientation.
Cosplay restaurants:
from Wiki-
When a person enters the café, the maids typically give an extraordinarily humble greeting, such as "Welcome home, Master" (お帰りなさいませ、ご主人様!, Okaerinasaimase, goshujinsama) in order to play the role of a house servant. In order to enhance the illusion that the customer is indeed the master, they often serve the customer in a very deferential fashion. For example, staff sometimes kneel to mix sugar or milk in teas or other drinks. The purpose of the maid cafés and their service is to make customers feel as though they are at home and to encourage them to relax. Although exemplary customer service is typical of Japan, maid cafés take special care to pamper patrons.

And yes, so far to go.
I wonder if this particular version (whichever gender does the serving) would fly in the US?  Respectful, humble service without the completely, in-your-face sexiness?  Anyone seen a venture capitalist lately?  Might have to import the help to up the exotic ambiance factor though.

Eh, don'tcha know that there's a strong Canadian accent, Faery?  *snickers*

As for Newfies, that's something totally different...... The Canadian might have been the first one, there was a very slight trace accent there. *shrugs*

Kindred spirits, Akasha. Ditto the Canadian guy. (I imagine that he also can play hockey. ) The pronunciation of the word "about" usually gives Canadians away.

I do enjoy Twisted Teas up here in the Bay Area, though the servers are generally naked and not in tuxes. :) A shout out to all the local subs, male and female, the bi-annual server training opportunity is this Saturday, July 12th. Feel free to message me and I will forward you the information.

Newfoundland is not part of Canada? That's news to me, and I live in Quebec province.

But yes, as for the accent, I don't recall finding an accent. The closest thing to an accent is someone who's not bilingual trying to speak the other language (French or English, whichever is the 2nd language). I speak both, and pretty sure I don't have an accent either. I learned French first.

I'd go to Japan for other reasons already. This probably isn't at the top of my list though. It's a nice concept still.

I'd be more enclined to go there for lolita fashion dress shops, trying the stuff live beats ordering it from online.

The guy toward the end has the Canadian accent. I made my husband look at it, who is Canadian, but he confessed to me that Canadians don't hear it as much as I do.  Or other Americans probably. I also watch a lot of hockey interviews and am very fine tuned to the accent (lol).  Yeah, it's the "about."   This video explains it better than I can:  http://youtube.com/watch?v=kOqiOokEJ-Q&feature=related

Quebec wanted to separate so Chretien used 9 billion $ of Canada's tax money to campaign against it, resulting in a 49.4% yes vote in 1995. Some of that money was also used after the referendum, to ensure it didn't happen again. At best he got a slap on the wrist.

I was born in Montreal by the way (and lived 17 years there - though I spoke French most of that time).

Why can't we have as many of those restaurants as there are Hooters here in the States?  Maybe I'll relocate to Japan and start my new career.

Ummm....well...no, faery. A fairly small number of Quebecers want to separate, most of them politicians. The vast majority of us never want to hear the words "separate from Canada" ever again. Sentiments have changed vastly from 20 years ago. Oh btw Quebec is very much a part of Canada.

Aw that is awesome. I want the guy named Chrispen, the one with the british accent. Too cute! The guy with the longer hair reminds me of my ex though, despite the fact that my ex was a jackass that was anything but accomodating. I wonder if that sort of thing would work in the states.

for the right price, you can get treated the same exact way at any disney resort restaurant, including which character you'd like to be, and which character you'd like to be your server, as well as your surroundings at the time of service(like under a toadstood, as an example).

Oh there are some who still insist on going on and on about it. But trust me the gen pop wants no part of it. If memory serves the leader of the Partie Quebecoise lost his position because he wouldn't shut up about it. In fact, most of the francophones are fighting for the right to send their kids to English schools, they don't see the French language as being threatened.

WHAT!! We're getting Sundin, woohoo! Though i do humbly point out that we did really well in the regular season, it's the playoffs we suck at, lol.
