LadyJag08 -> Urine and medications (7/3/2008 9:38:57 PM)

I've just started blood pressure pills and wondering how they might affect my slave when he ingests my urine. Does anyone have any details on various meds and how they may affect the urine?
Thanks so much in advance LadyJag

it depends on what type of blood pressure med you're on and the dosage. i wouldn't think that there would be that much in urine, especially if you're taking a diuritic based one (like mine) but you could always find a doctor you trust and ask them (even if it's just a friend they should be able to answer concentration questions like that).

What is the name of the medication? Have you tried looking up the prescription information? One thing to consider is the type of metabolite excreted in the urine. Just for the sake of interest I looked up one hypertension drug (an ACE inhibitor) and the information given stated that the metabolite had a greater ACE inhibitory action than the ingested drug. And the metabolite is not entirely absorbed by the body but excreted in the urine. Regardless of the amount or type of metabolite, it doesn't sound like it would be safe for your boy toy to ingest your urine.

As others said, it depends entirely on the med in question.

If it is renally excreted, it is inadvisable to even try it.

Urine is not my thing but helping is.

Here is an idea. Call your pharmasist or the manufacturer's customer service / hotline / helpline and ask them. The consumption of urine is not completely unheard of. Ghadi consumed his own urine daily. Call the helpline and if they ask tell them it's a religious practice. What are they going to say?

My intuition, which serves me well fully 70% of the time, is that un metabolized medicine may pass through and be included in measureable amounts in your urine. Check with your consumer's medical resources to ensure *he isn't likely to react badly to your meds.

Hello all, and thanks for your replies. Good advice as I see. I'm taking 20 mg Benicar. (very low dosage) I did do a search but came up empty handed.
Hope y'all had a great 4th of July!

I had never given this much thought since it is so rare that I have anyone drink my urine - thanks for bringing it up.  I will say one thing I know - in the US they consider the amounts of medications in our waste to be a serious issue in terms of waste treatment.  I would be willing to bet this could be a serious issue if you request significant frequency or amounts of consumption.  I think the help-line call mentioned above is your best bet to determine the actual risk.

I suppose it depends on how often your urine is being consumed.  I drink my Master's on occasion, and he is on various meds.  I have had no noticeable affect.  Then again, he limits my consumption because of the meds.  I have an annual physical, and my blood tests always come out well.

Health and sanity comes first always so I check things out beforehand instead of regretting afterwards. Thanks for all replies, they were very helpful for me!

That is the normal dose, not a low dose.

The doctor should be able to tell you whether it will be harmful to him.

In no case should you be assuming anything less than 10mg will be getting into his system if he does it all every time. That is based on renally excreted fraction alone. Divide down accordingly, if you're feeling lucky. Either way, you need to ask the doctor to evaluate the impact the relevant dose will have on him. And if you want a good idea of the risk, you will have to tell him everything¹.

The above rule of thumb is guesswork only, a fallback if you're going to play it by ear anyway.

Experience and statistics say docs' ears are better to play by. [;)]

Health,
al-Aswad.

¹ The doctor will know (or be able to find out) things like whether the bioavailability will affect the excreted fraction, and whether the unchanged drug will be excreted, or only the metabolites. It may be the case that the figure I gave was overly conservative, but that isn't a guess you should be making without the doctor suggesting it.

All I know is that pyrrhidium turns your pee bright orange.

Could be fun to screw with him... [:D]

Just read an interesting study on PUBS  (purple urine bag syndrome) a little off topic but thats what happens when ya surf the web.

L8bloomer -> RE: Urine and medications (7/13/2008 8:13:53 PM)

I found the information on Benicar at the manufacturer's web site. The product info can be found at the following web site: http://www.benicar.com/pdf/Benicar_PI.pdf

It says "BENICAR® (olmesartan medoxomil), a prodrug, is hydrolyzed to olmesartan during absorption from the gastrointestinal tract. Olmesartan is a selective AT1 subtype angiotensin II receptor antagonist."  Further down the page it states "Approximately 35% to 50% of the
absorbed dose is recovered in urine while the remainder is eliminated in feces via the bile."
So I would ask your pharmacist just what impact a 7 to 10 gram dosage would have on someone, since that is what it boils down to. Unless olmesartan is broken down to something else in the digestive tract, but I don't believe that is mentioned in the product info.

Thank you Thank you L8bloomer. That's exactly what I've been looking for.
