I need SPF 100 or something.

I don't want color. [>:]

Neutrogena Ultrasheer has 85 spf if that helps

Also in goggling a couple of sources I did find this :

Since sunscreen cuts down formation of vitamin D-like substances in the skin, make sure you have enough vitamin D in your diet (or take a multivitamin with vitamin D) to keep your bones strong.
http://www.healthinaging.org/public_education/pef/dry_skin.php

I know this is a fact as I rarely get outside due to agoraphobia and then only when I have to. Had my blood work done and it was per the dr critically low and now on very high doses of Vit D  (5000 IU 2 x a week and 1000 IU a day and calcium. Therefore my bone density is much lower than it should be and probabaly has been for years.

So if you do spend alot of time outside sunscreened up grab a bottle of Vit D to compensate.

as usual with most things one action can cause a reaction in another way. Im sure its not that necessary if your not spending all your days sitting on the beach with sunscreen. LOL

Learned way to much lately the need for Vit D than I care for hope Im not causing overkill.

The thing that really bothers me is reading about the lack of testing/long term results of use and the new knowledge that it is damaging free radicals. I cannot be in the sun much due to my Lupus, it kicks that into flare ups if I get too much sun.

As a child my mother slathered me in Sea & Ski (oh how I hate that scent!)
As a young teen we all used baby oil and covered a double album cover in aluminum foil for that extra burst of sun heh.
As an adult I've tried to use sunscreen but usually forget.

Now I am going to be scrutinizing sunscreen in the same way that I scrutinize the food I eat. This is something that I think the FDA needs to grab hold of and start to regulate, the potential for damage is there and obviously the companies that make sunscreen aren't going to step up on their own.

regarding the highlighted in red.

I remember back in the 70's it was babyoil and iodine, cant remember how the iodine  helped but you sure tanned or burnt super fast.  But I see ppl my age now (49) or there abouts that did excessive tanning and now their skin is like leather.

To me sitting out in the hot baking sun letting the sun roast you alive was just never on my agenda. But the sun was bound to get you living in Texas as its hot and close.  My daughter uses super dupper tanning oils, with no spf and at 27 you can already see how its affecting the texture of her skin. She even stills does it after my mother had melanonia that was successfully treated.

Me I would rather tan nude under the moonlight LOL
