HA, did that with a CC a while back. Had about ten grand on it and they jacked my interest as well as the payment schedule. I paid them off with a 2.9% - life of the loan check, and when I did I added three hundred to it. This means they can't close the account, and no matter which way the balance goes they have to send a statement every month. Now it's getting paid down three times faster, and that company is getting no interest. Another poster said to never pay in advance, whatever interest can accrue on the money should be your's, and they are right. But I don't really care about 300 bucks, so just to be a pain in the ass, that's what I did. They said minimum payment, they said nothing about maximum payment. Then I used up the balance in dribs and drabs, twenty bucks here, ten bucks there. You jack my interest up 40% and almost triple my minimum payment, don't think you are going to get away with it (only one company did it). I signed, so I will pay the money. But the way I want. The ten grand ? It was from a few trips to Florida and I spent money like a drunken sailor. Actually I am surprised almost at how fast that is now getting paid down. But the math does not lie, and at 2.9 even if they are double dipping I am still ahead. But any other bill, they send the bill and I send a check, nothing is automatic. That is the way I run my finances. The only thing that is automatic is AOL, I use them for email and FTP space, that is all. Right now they are having trouble with the FTP and if they don't fix it soon, I will go with someone else. In certain accounts I can't even get to it right now to delete anything, and there are a few things I would like to delete. I could fix that easily by cancelling the whole account. I might. They are not getting over on the Terminator, I have been through too much, and they are no match for me. And if they find a way to screw me, this is all unsecured anyway. They can't take anything, nor can they make me pay should I decide not to. And even if I die, they are out. I have no heirs, therefore nobody will probate me, therefore they are out the money. I don't play to lose. T
