That's sad, Popeye1250.  What a waste of a beautiful classic!

I agree, philosophy.  I rode the bus for a couple of years and while I like the "freedom" that  your own vehicle affords, I miss the comraderie of the people on the bus:  you ride the same route at the same time every day and you tend to run into many of the same people.  Southern CA has a horrible mass transit system!!

My first car was a 1966 Volkswagen Beetle.  My first fan belt cost me $750!!  ouch!  I learned to pull over when the Generator light goes on!!

...i was lucky. Town i grew up in had an awesome (council run) bus service and was smack dab in the middle of the train system. Once i sat down with a car driving friend and we worked out how much our seperate travel arrangements had cost us over a year.......turned out i was around 300 quid up.....and that was a lot in those days.

I drove my dad's piece of shit green Ford LTD.  Biggest damn thing and could hold up to about eight of us if we crammed in.  And it had the biggest back seat - better than any sofa.

I learned to parallel park it and have been able to parallel park anything since.  Learning to drive in a big car teaches a lot.

I was the opposite. I failed my test the first time because I couldnt parallel park my huge Impala. I went back a week later in my Grampa's car (A nova) and passed. Whew.

To this day I do not parallel park- I nose it in.

Yeah, the F/A-18 isnt exactly pickel barrel material. Nor is it all weather material.

Ranchero?

Yes! It was either than or a chevy El Camino..........it's been so long I forgot. Plus, it was such a piece of shit I only had it for a few months. I think it sat in the driveway longer than I drove the thing.

Must have been a Ranchero then. The El Camino was a sweet piece of machinery. Not that I'm biased or anything.

Trust me........given the person that had it before me.........the sweetest piece of machinery in the world would have been shit by the time I got it. It was free if that tells you anything.

My first 'car' was a 1975 Honda 350cl bike. Couldn't afford a car and didn't want to go to the parents. When they saw me pull up they tossed me the keys to their Chevy station wagon; but  I never gave up having a bike until I got tired of being a target on the CA highways.

1976 honda civic cvcc hatchback.  I think the colour was called "HOLY CHRIST YELLOW!"
The thing was a total piece of crap, but hey, it got from point a to point b for long enough for me to save up more than $300 to get a better one.  Just barely.  LOL  On the way to go pick up the newer car (84 bmw 318i, the damned thing was my favorite car EVER), the honda died in a puff of smoke and very loud CLUNK!, as it blew a piston through the engine block...  Oh well, good enough.  At that point, the honda was a good uh...  20+ years old.  Poor thing.

Hahaha!  One of the vehicles in my stable currently is an 83 olds custom cruiser wagon.  The thing is just obscenely huge!  It's great.

My first car was this pumpkin orange '82 Chevy Citation.  I was the butt of everyones joke in that car.   They called me Cinderella for the longest time.  I just wish it would have broken down before I graduated...After that, I graduated up to a slightly less crappy Ford station wagon.  (Think Brady Bunch-mobile.)  I still have fond memories of the Shaggin Wagon .

What didnt clinton fuck up?

"Defense Secretary Dick Cheney killed the A-12 shortly after the inspector general of the Navy reported that cost overruns on the program had exceeded $1 billion (EN, Dec. 17, 1990). Several Navy officers were forced to retire as a result."

He did it in such a clumsy manner that it's still being litigated.

And it wasn't under Clinton.

Compliments of BNET.
