http://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/14/business/14sec.html?_r=1&oref=slogin ooooh ahhhhh ohhhh- that will make those hedge fund managers stop!!! investing IS betting on the value of an asset. Yet- this will do nothing. wall street wants no regulations, and if so then they will take their business to Hing Kong or elsewhere. voodoo accounting methods where even a skilled accountant cant tell if an asset if properly entered in the balance sheets/ P and L; so just tell "them" to stop manipulating market risk... we really should let a few of these firms go broke. short of that- I dont think any reform will occur. now to those of us on the boards 40ish- the phraze "so it will never happen again" means it wont happen until next time. [that it happens]
