jim64 -> RE: Do you consider yourself a Sadist? (7/18/2008 6:07:07 AM)

My Ms is very much a sadist. Control is not so much an issue with her. She gets over "ninety percent" of her pleasure from inflicting pain. Her words, she has thought about this recently. Her conclusion was, "I just want to HURT people". She has a wicked smile that can come out when playing. She knows that the pain she gives turns into pleasure and bliss for me. Oh, lucky me!

thetammyjo -> RE: Do you consider yourself a Sadist? (7/18/2008 7:16:57 AM)

Sadism is perhaps not the best word any of us could use because we talk about consent and live in a world where the term also applies to criminal and immoral activities. But so do many of the words we use.

I have sadistic cravings, craving to hurt someone to get reaction. How much hurt I cause depends on the person and the reaction.

With my slave who is not a masochist it takes very little pain to get a reaction I want.

With a masochist there is a correlation between how much they like and how much I need. The more pain they enjoy, the more I have to give to get the same kick for myself.

I applaud all you ladies that consider yourselfs sadists.  There should be more like you in the world.  Thank you

Well, among lots of other fun activities......I like to cut people with Xacto knives, stick needles and sewing pins in people, have a wide array of canes, paddles and floggers to cause big ol bruises on people....do YOU think I'm a sadist, OP?

IvyMorgan -> RE: Do you consider yourself a Sadist? (7/18/2008 4:44:36 PM)

I'm a sadist, and a masochist, and a submissive.

It's not an either/or/both thing.

I can understand the switch perspective, although i suspect for most it is either/or. The common links would be the anticipation beforehand and adrenelin rush during.

The excitment for me is not knowing i am a masochist, but wondering that i may be, if that makes sense.

DiurnalVampire -> RE: Do you consider yourself a Sadist? (7/18/2008 5:00:15 PM)

I am a sadist, both emotional and physical. I like to be in control as well.  I enjoy certain types of pain with certain people. I love sexual torture, I also love leaving very bright red stipes on Fox when I get the urge. With Angel, I enjoy psychological torture and humiliation.
Every pet I have had, though, has been different. I am a sadist, but I do not truly enjoy it unless the subject does as well. Angel doesnt like physical pain, and so I would never enjoy hurting him physically. Vice versa for Fox, he couldnt handle the emotional torture, but physically he gets very into it.

I'm going to go with MySweet Submissive on this one - why is it so hard to believe that women enjoy causing pain, particularly if it brings pleasure to the domme and the sub?

There's nothing quite like the domme space I get into when I am using a 4ft ipe cane to bloody and bruise a willing pain slut's ass. The physical exertion is exhilerating, endorphins ensue, I get all hot and sweaty (among other things) - it's amazing!

I play with people who are into pain but not submission and vice versa (plus those who go in for the whole package). Perhaps it's a typical assumption that inducing pain can be an extremely physical event, coupled with the patently false assumption that women aren't supposed to be physically aggressive or enjoy giving pain? You know us - sweet, demure, passive little women - how dare we impinge, actually no, pretend to impinge upon such a bastion of male activity? We can't help it - it's our weak constitutions that make us lie and say that we get off, and get off hard I might add, on causing pain.

I can't answer for anyone else.  I am a sadist and have to make that clear to some.

I get approached by submissive men, who are not masochistic.  I added an explanation to my profile that if someone approached me they needed to be masochistic or get satisfaction as a submissive from pain in some way.  Even if that satisfaction is only in that they please me.  My explanation has not stopped pure masochists who cannot or won't tolerate pain, from approaching me.  It has resulted in angry missives regarding my issues.  Not the norm, by the way, but fairly frequent.  Just as I can't be persuaded to, well, pretty much anything I don't want to do.  I can't be persuaded to lose my need to hurt someone the more that I care for them.

I like to hurt, cause tears, crying, screaming, from physical, mental and emotional pain.  I work to not cause harm.  Do I pass your sadist test?

I don't know, but I do recall some kind of survey that tested the intensity of play of men vs. women and it turned out that the lesbian couples were the most sadistic of them all.

Oh and to the OP-sadist here. Not the mean kind- just the wicked kind. I really love gasps and moans and screams and grimaces.

Steponme73 -> RE: Do you consider yourself a Sadist? (7/19/2008 7:46:48 AM)

Sadism to me is defined as: Someone who gets sexual gratification out of causing pain or degradation to another.  So with that said, that was the reason for my question.  I don't have a problem with sadistic women.  I read once in some study that said women could not be classified as sadistic because they did not have the right genes.  I think that is hogwash.
You can hurt people, torture people, degrade people without getting turned on.  That to me is not being sadistic.
You can be in control without hurting, torturing  or degrading them.

However, if the only way, or the preferred way to get your juices flowing is to inflict pain or degrade someone, then that is sadistic and I guess that was really my question.  Is that what really gets you going?  Or is it just the control of making someone obey you.
I think if you get excited by just obedience of another to you then that is not sadistic that is control.
I think that Aakasha has some great points and even better questions.  Could you live without one or the other and if so which one?

Any way, thank you all for posting.  It was a great response and I appreciate it.

ShiftedJewel -> RE: Do you consider yourself a Sadist? (7/19/2008 8:44:53 AM)

Like someone else that posted... I have a mean streak. I don't know that I'm a "sadist"... I know that I can be very sadistic. To me that doesn't always mean causing pain, it could mean denying pain to a masochist. That's the mean streak. I do what I find to be fun.

Just to be very clear, I am definitely a sadist by that definition. And I agree, obviously, that that study is hogwash.
I don't know that I could live without either, honestly. My personality is too naturally dominant and, even at my most vanilla, I'd always sneak some bit of sadism in, even if it was just a bite.

I love when someone says BITE! Makes me all warm and happy. (kinda laughing/nervous) too

Personally, I couldn't say.  I've always looked for males and had no interest in females.

Biting has a special little magic all its own, I think. *grin*

I think a lot of women want to be in control, but I wonder if they truly are sadists.  In my opinion, the majority of the women that post here in Ask a Mistress are not sadists, but just like to be in control.  Am I right or wrong?

I can't speak for the majority, but I like being in control AND being a sadist.

I guess it depends on what you mean by "getting turned on". I don't always find inflicting pain to be sexually arousing, but it is a rush! I like it, I enjoy it, I want more of it. What's the difference whether it gets "juices flowing" or not?
