This isn't some lofty desire. This is a basic requirement for faith of stability in the future, isn't it? If it was a medical condition, I would understand. They say they are afraid, and could get a license if they wanted to. They just don't.

Alive yes, functional, I would argue no.. If it depends on me moving to be near them when we live a tiny distance away, and me always visiting them, and having to wonder if they are capable of getting a job and such..

If they can't afford a automobile of some sort, than they are probably chronically unemployed, chronically broke, have horrible credit, a combination of these, or all of the above. It doesn't take much money to get a functioning automobile. I can go out tomorrow morning with $500.00; get a car, insure it, and have tags on it before lunch. It might not be a great car, but it will run. Interstate makes them nervous? You can stay off of the interstates for the most part if are inventive with the routes you take. Childhood issues? [8\|] Give me a break. If they have issues about cars, than they are going to have issues with a lot more than that. Run away fast. Car accidents? I've been a few car accidents; one of which I couldn't believe I walked away from. It made me be a little more cautious, but I wasn't traumatized by it. If someone can't get over a car accident, again they have other issues. Run away fast. They let their license expire? A trip down to the courthouse or where ever y'all do your license renewal will fix that. I had to renew mine last year; it took me about an hour. They just want to rely on public transportation only? How noble of them, but unless they live in one of a handful of cities in this country where that's possible....bullshit.

What decent job doesnt require a valid drivers license?

I was going to say that I could arrange to be there to kidnap you within the next couple of hours... but I realized I don't qualify, I am not a virgin. Not that there is anything wrong with that either. I see no problem with you setting a couple of basic standards like must have a car and a valid license along with the others you have set out. Seems pretty realistic, especially in the part of the country you live in.

Thank you to the last two posters. It's just such a shame / waste. Why would someone do that to themselves? Oh I knowww... that was one of my big points. What if it was an emergency?? I don't love driving in a snow storm either, but if my sweetheart had the flu you can be sure I would take care of him, and I really hope for the same. I fantasize about having someone drive at night and letting me drive during the day if we're riding together - I'm dreadfully nearsighted and the nighttime interstate driving is really scary for me, but I do it anyway to see my family whenever I want to. It's just one of those things you gotta do.. unless you're crazy or live in manhattan. And if you're in manhattan, more power to you. My bro/sis in law live in Chicago, the 3rd biggest city in the country, and they both absolutely still must drive and have cars and go in very different directions to work each day..

Plus this whole "Im saving myself" thing seems cute in theory, but arent those folks in for a rude shock when they find out that their beloved is utterly totally sexually incompatible with them.
