Now now, it's not so bad in either camp. The Corvette gets all the goodies, the posh treatment and refinement due as Chevy's flagship sports car. The Camaro owes as much of what it is to the Corvette as it did to the Mustang for inspiring the muscle car genesis. In the end, the people who can afford the top end will go for the vette, I know I would. As for the rest of us who have more realistic budgets, the Camaro and Mustang have been the more affordable vehicles. As well as the Charger surprisingly.
Did I hear someone ask what kind of mileage the new Camaro will get? Well gosh, it's going to be something to see isn't it? Yes that's sarcasm, it's a damned muscle car. Engineers can get more power at the same mpg easily, yet they seem to be incapable of keeping power relatively the same while increasing mileage. Wait, that's every automotive manufactureer, and a rant for another day.
So let's see, why not check out the 2008 Corvette or starters? Historically Camaros from 1982 and up have used slightly detuned vette engines, so it's a good starting point. While we're at it, how about the 2008 Charger, since that seems to be in the same class as the Camaro and Mustang. Finally of course, the 2008 Mustang.
Going back over all this stuff reminded me of the single redeeming part of the new Camaro in my eyes. The Zeta platform. No more flippin' unibody crap, yay!
