Years ago i looked into western and eastern astrology, chaledean numerology and bio-rhtyms etc, i found it fascinating. i agree with what people have been saying though, the generalisms within daily horoscopes are not really where its at, there is so much more to it. I found the study i did helped me give me insight into myself, my strengths, my weaknesses - helped with self growth etc.
A little triva for you: The Dalai Lama is found through astrology.
I'm a scorpio and one of the things it says about scorpio is there is a desire to look into the mysteries of life, devling into whats beyond the surface, that has pretty much been reflected in my life.
i wish that birth signs were included in peoples bio's. They do give an insight into a personas way of being in the world, it can help understand where the come from and how they express it.

While i am not an avid follower or adict of astrology, i admit to reading them occasionally... i am an aries, The Ram.....Do i find this sign to fit my personality?? hmmm.. wanting attention and to be recognized for works doen, impatient, wanting instant results, blunt... a dreamer. sometimes a child-like outlook on life ( simple perspective)..... Yes, those pretty much fit me.....

So WHo is the One that would be my Master soemtime in the Future?? i don't know.. However, i can't see myself with a Virgo or Libra lol.. i have NEVER had luck with Virgos, or Scorpios, for that matter.... [8D]

Very pretty nick, mooncloud. Welcome to the boards.

i seem to remember pilgrim girls used to peel an apple in one long unwinding and then throw the skin over their shoulder (don't recall which side). The girls believed the skin would fall in such a way as to suggest the first letter of their future husband's name. i may have the society wrong, but the story is basically correct.

Tricky getting all the skin off in one long cut, though.

If you try this, please let us know what initial you got.

I read my horoscope now and then. I am a Scorpio with Libra rising. I have the books and I've made the charts. Astrology is a hobby of mine that I enjoy very much. Do I let it influence how I will spend my day? No. Because any horoscope you get online or from a paper, is too basic and general. No, I don't use it for compatibility. But it seems that the people I surround myself with, seem to be people that are compatible with me. So it seems to happen naturally. Oh and my Master is a Scorpio . . . which makes us a hell of a pair! [:D]

Absolutly lol. I actually had my birth chart done at one time, and I was astonished to find how accurate it was. I read my horoscope every day, and while I do not 'live my life' by it, I do find it to be helpful.

Well i used to Study Paganism and other religions as such.... i used to be alot into astrology and tarot reading..... but after i started studing psychology (majoring in Psychology).. i dont really believe on it anymore.. and now i am Agnostic. However, i find it a truly beautiful and interesting way of life.

If you are majoring in Psychology, this background should be very useful to you - Jung refers to astrology and the Tarot extensively. The Tarot is symbolic of the stages of life: the Major Arcanae begins with the Fool, symbolizing youth and inexperience, and concludes with the Magician, symbolic of the wisdom that comes with age and experience.

You might also consider studying Alchemy, another rich symbolic system that is intimely concerned with change and changing states of matter and spirit, much of which applies to psychology - these systems are as much pure linguistic/symbolic systems as anything, based on millenia of observation of human behavior.

Nathan Schwart-Salant's "The Borderline Personality" frames the phenomona in alchemical terms for example, while another fine book, Jungian Irene Claremont Castillejo's "Knowing Woman" refers extensively to various occult linguistic/symbolic systems, as many Jungian studies tend to do.

On the other hand, the cycles of the moon have been demonstrated to effect tree ring growth, evidence that gravitational phenomona effects organic systems.

Techically, astrology only defines basic tendencies, and ventures to construct probabilities from that - it doesn't, and isn't meant to - fortell the future in any literal sense.

Cancer/Tiger here, I forget the rest, although I think my Venus is in Virgo, which, I believe, causes me no end of trouble.

spikex -> RE: Horoscopes (12/3/2005 10:05:44 AM)

I've always found the description of my sun sign, Pisces, to be fairly accurate. Ive also had my mom tell me the things her astrologist to her about my birthchart(she asked almot of questions concerning me in her reading), and alot of it is actually oddly accurate, though some things just seem like theyre describing another person.
