i'm sure everyone has heard the rumors that the First Lady consulted an astrologer during the Regan Administration. Do You read Horoscopes or test compatibility this way?

i am a Leo and i find the description of my personality to be accurate; i crave attention from my One but repay it a thousand times over. i am protective and loyal to my loved ones, and my love runs to the bone.

This is my Horoscope for today:

For All The Signs! Spunky day as the Moon in sensual Taurus meets Mars! Very passionate but full-on and people are stubborn. Whether you find this sexy or sullen and truculent is kinda up to you. Evening: Luna square Neptune is easy to deceive yourself or others. Best sucky and or romantic zone? mid-morning. Prep for a v.exciting Wednesday as the Moon is Full and Uranus goes Direct.

Hummmm...who is online, LOL.

I too find that the description offered for my sign to be rather accurate. I also find it ironic that the sign described to be most compatible with me is my partner's sign.

As to what my forecast is for today... I haven't a clue. LOL!

Well, I am a gemini but I have no clue whether or not it reflects upon my personality.

Never put much stock into such things. Though I do have a family member who lives by them...he claims they are on 100% all of the time....don't know.

I had housemate who was quite into astrology, tarot, ruines and all that occult jazz. Being a curious person, I did ask questions. I don't dispell it completely though I wouldn't base my life on it. That said, I do respect people's right to believe in what they want. And I believe that if you believe something enough, it will be true to you. I also do find astrology to be mildly entertaining, and way too often, dead on. Though I have found stuff that is way off.

So here are my specs -- *checks the little note written lovingly by ex-housemate*

Sun in Cancer – which explains my kind, sensitive, intuitive nature, my strong lived emotions and my active imagination
Cancer rising – which explains my insight into human motivation, empathic and adaptable to various crowds and situations
Moon in Gemini – which explains the intellectual, creative and intuitive side deep down inside of me
Mercury in Leo - which explains my natural ability for leadership, management and arrogance ;)
Venus in Gemini - which explains my need for an intellectual rapport with someone before the affection sets it
Mars in Leo - which explains my dominant and dynamic sex drive and flair for the finer things in life

That's me, in a cosmic nutshell ;)

Now I've been known to read what is my boy and my cosmic future as has he. Though I don't need an astrological text to confirm that we were made for one another or that if we both take this to heart (like we are doing currently) that we will have a beautiful life together.

*edited to add --

I personally like www.freewillastrology.com. I always get such a kick out of the way that it is written up. Example, my astrology for the week of Nov 10th (he updates stuff on Thursdays as he's published in many indie weeklies)

Cancer: Bob Johnston is the music producer who worked with Bob Dylan on some of his brilliant breakthrough albums of the 1960s. "I believe in giving credit where credit's due," he testified in Martin Scorsese's movie about Dylan's life. "I don't think Dylan had a lot to do with it. Instead of touching him on the shoulder, I think God kicked him in the ass." I mention this, Cancerian, because I believe you're about to receive a few divine boots in the butt yourself. Are you ready, willing, and able to be moved and moved and moved?

Damn! I better get myself a little ice pack ;-)

Me too, not least because Rob Breszny's stuff has nothing to do with astrology . Actually, Breszny's a little too fuzzy-bunny for me. Check out Andrew Boyd's Daily Afflictions site. It's a little darker and grittier, but just as honest and wise. I like Boyd's stuff even better, but unfortunately he's not doing daily horoscopes.

Consulting an astrologer like the one Mrs. Reagan went to and reading a short blurb from the newspaper centered on your sun sign alone are two different things. this slave has consulted astrology by educating herself about it, not an astrologer, with positive results and this slave pays no attention whatsoever to the little blurbs in the paper directed at a generic sun sign...it just isn't specific enough given the variables involved with the ancient forms of astrology predating the newspaper column version.

the practice of astrology, eastern or western, has an interesting history. this slave's experience has been that it is a mix of early psychology and nature worship, or belief in a particular grand design to the universe.

if you are genuinely interested in what a horoscope reading entails, this slave would suggest reading anything by astrologer Linda Goodman. it is relatively cheap or free to have a chart drawn for you specific to YOU, you need your birthdate, place and time of birth. it is free here: http://www.alabe.com/freechart/ the interpretation of your chart however, should be done by a competent astrologer, or educate yourself and interpret it yourself. all it costs is time spent and an open mind.

i visited LA's site and got a lecture, lol!

quote:

This is a perfect astrological moment to take an inventory of your relationship with everything that nurtures you and keeps you alive. For instance, do you have a smart, balanced relationship with food? If not, what could you change about it? Do a similar analysis of the roles that other basic forms of sustenance play. Do you drink enough water? Should you learn the habit of breathing more deeply? Is there anything about the way you sleep that could be altered to enhance your overall vitality? Are you happy with how you obtain love and sex? Don't forget to think about your relationship with the substance that fuels so many of the good things you rely on: oil.

www.freewillastrology.com

went to www.dailyafflications.com and found this, LOL:

Kristen Haynes confuses DesCARTes with a lunch CART:

quote:

"Rosito ergo yum (I'm pink, therefore I'm ham)."

i intend to order the book; it sounds hilarious.

The only problem with Horscopes is that you can read every one in the news paper and find how it answers are says something to you and your life. Most people can also identify with all if not all of the descriptions of the horscopes, chinies signs, and Celtric Tree signs. So let's say you look at horscopes then the Celtic Trees. Isn't it interesting how they do reflect each other?

Sure, somebody spent there whole life observing everyone, able to put them into catagories just because of the month they were born, and then able to rationalize anyone because of it. Are there really only 12 types of people in this world.
I find it most interesting when people read there horscope sign discription for the first time. After that, they begin action or molding the part. Take the shy guy for example. After telling him he's a Leo, SHAZAAMM! how the hell did he mustar the courage to start romancing, speaking his mind, and taking over conversations or being the life of the party?

It's all psychological. Mind over matter. If we read it, we'll make it happen. Guess what, you're going to meet the pefect person for you next week. Why? because you belive I told you so. Next week, you'll flirt extra, have yourself look nicer, and present yourself to more people. Isn't it interesting that you meet someone not because it was a prediction, but because you acctually allowed to make it happen.

Taurus here and pretty much on target to it's description. I read the scopes once and a while, but mostly for entertainment practices. However, I would put more stock into how the planets work together than I would put into that other theary of one oh so powerful entity presiding over all actions and outcomes. Just my simple opinion not based in any theological or scientific research so don't hold me to anything. I plead the fifth.

I'm a Pisces and like the others here, my sign fits me perfectly. When I was younger I thought it was fun to read them. I have never taken them seriously and haven't read a horoscope in years now.

I'm Virgo with Taurus rising (Earth on Earth) and under the Chinese system I'm a Cock. the combination of all this pretty well sjums me up except that my training within lodge has allowed me to modify some aspects according to my will. For those who didn't figure it, my totem is the Great Bear (In both Celtic and Native American Spirituality)

Hmm horoscopes.....

much like any other form of divination....

they are often too vague and non-descript...and can be interpreted any number of ways.

So for me, i find that they hold no appeal for me, and therefore i don't read them, let alone place any faith in them.

I don't put to much stock in the horoscopes they have in the newspapers, if that's what you mean. I believe that some astrology can be accurate, but only loosely and in a way that is often open to interpretation. I'm a Gemini, and that's right on the mark. I'm definitely flightly and somewhat fickle. Not good qualities, but ah well.

At least their forecast for me for 2006 looks awesome!

Wow. That's an awesome site. It's very specific, too. Some of what they predicted for 2006 was dead on. Some of it also detailed what the past few months have been like. Thanks for posting that link!
