Vendaval -> Henna tattoo after care (7/21/2008 2:05:52 PM)

Greetings A/all,

I went to the local Renaissance Faire yesterday and had my first henna tattoo done.  However, the paper with the guidelines for removing the henna with oils of some kind has vanished into the ethers. (Olive oil combined with something or other) We wrapped the area lightly in toilet paper last night and then covered it with plastic wrap.  What is the next step?

Thank you A/all in advance for the replies,

Vendaval

Of course a browser search will turn up information, but I was hoping to find information from people who actually wear henna tattoos here.

Are you asking how to remove it, or how to preserve it? I would be surprised if anyone told you it was removeable, particularly with oils.... the whole idea is to have something that will still be there in a few weeks.

To make it look good as long as it does last, basically keep it away from water for a couple of days, and then rub it lightly with any vegetable oil before washing.

Not trying to remove the dye in the skin rather the paste that is raised on the surface of the skin.  (Hope that makes sense now!)

Ahhhh... keep it covered and dry, it will fall off in a day or two...then oil the rest with anything non-petroleum

Thank you, Alumbrado.
