It seems to me alcohol can sometimes exacerbate tense situations. Parents rock. And I'll be they think you do too.

Dude, you're 30 years old. Relax and enjoy their visit. Don't look at it as an obligation but as a pleasure. One day they won't be able to visit. Cherish them while they still can.

Man I guess I am lucky I guess I just got different Parents.

I love having my parents over and yes there have been times when things got nasty and luckily my mother knows what to get involved with and what not too.

Thank God my parents understand I'm a Grown up now.

I understand how you feel.
But...
I was raised by my grandparents.
Grandpa has gone on, and Grandma (who is 93!!!) although she still drives, cannot come this far.
Try to enjoy what you have.
Annoying. Exacerbating. Frustrating.
Sometimes all that stuff gets wrapped up in love.

We moved my parents into a trailer 15 feet from our own. We left my wife's parents in a different state. My inlaws came down for a visit a couple of weeks ago. For the first time since I met her mother, the woman actually let her hair down and relaxed. The visit was even fun. Then they went home which was cool too. When we were closer, visits were like bamboo under the fingernails.
