LacieDoll -> Reading Material (11/15/2005 8:39:09 PM)

I am an avid reader and very much enjoy reading books that have to with the BDSM lifestyle either fiction or non-fiction. I have read the Beauty Series (which I didn't particularly like but that's another post), the Story of O, and Different Loving and a lot of other things. Can anyone recommend some really good reading material in either fiction or non-fiction?

Much as my ego is screaming for me to .... well you can guess, I'll compromise and suggest you look at the offerings of Greenery Press (www.greenerypress.com). It's only a coincidence that they are my publisher (That's my story and I'm sticking to it)

[Whispered aside] Murder at Roissy, a great little who-done-it is on sale.

i know this might sound strange, but i have never actually read any bdsm related books.
Where would i find them in australia?

BalletBob -> RE: Reading Material (11/15/2005 9:39:22 PM)

Maybe Miss Diane or Sir Hugh could help you out with that..since they also live there, and have a lot of experience.

In Australia you can find BDSM books at Eagle Leather in Melbourne, they have a website. Also Lucrezia & De Sade in Melbourne. In Sydney there are many shops that stock BDSM books. I would suggest going to the Eagle Leather website first. http://www.eagleleather.com.au

You might like to visit http://www.whisper.co.nz/subspace there are three D/s non-fiction books on that site. One is currently out of print but the other two are available. I can recommend them *grin* as I am the author.

Hi,

One of my favourite BDSM authors is Richard Alexander. He writes stories online and has a series of "books" online which can be found here ... http://fetish.pornparks.com/boundstories/alexanderstories.html . He has a great imagination. i've been following the "Monica" series for a few years now, he writes a few more chapters each month. The books follow a group of Dommes who all live in the same house .. and the handyman who lives with them and is learning about BDSM (the hard way!)

It's a good read :)

cheers
mira

Thank you Bob for the recommendation but on this subject we are at a loss indeed living out where we are some would even thing Mills and Boon would be to suggestive but may be in the bigger cities even though it may sound strange the public libraries would have books on BDSM or even some of the adult stores.
Sorry we could not be of further help with any addresses.
The Story of O is about all for us as well.

plantlady64 -> RE: Reading Material (11/16/2005 5:48:19 AM)

Hello There,
I also loved Different Loving, there's also slavecraft, Miss Abernathy's Consice Slave Training Manuel,The Ethicle Slut, Any book by Jay Weissman, and any book about tantric sex have been some of my favorites. I also have been looking at the human anatomy books from the library since I became kinky. I'm learning where my nerves, veins, and organs are to help me play safely.

slavejali, you ask

I say on the lovely internet of course. Even big E-warehouses like Amazon.com sell most of them.

Happy reading to all,
sub suzanne

Cloudz -> RE: Reading Material (11/16/2005 6:32:57 AM)

The Marketplace series by Laura Antoniou - excellent fiction

thetammyjo -> RE: Reading Material (11/16/2005 11:18:00 AM)

I would, of course, recommend my own books, you can get the latest "Eroscapes" via Amazon.com or KinkyBooks.com.

I've reviewed about 75% of the books on KinkyBooks.com (I'm the official book reviewer there) but they are revamping their cite and I don't think my reviews are back up yet or I'd say "check those out".

I really like Laura Antoniou's "Marketplace" series.

John Preston and Larry Townsend are "classic" gay leather authors.

I recommend Greenery Press, Cleis Press, Circlet Press, and Daedalus Press in general.

I find books written by people who actually have BDSM or SM or whatever they wish to call it to be more interesting and more "real" feeling.

Kyami -> RE: Reading Material (11/16/2005 11:42:58 AM)

I have not read too many books on the subject yet, but The Four Agreements is a great starting point.

candystripper -> RE: Reading Material (11/16/2005 11:47:42 AM)

"Delta of Venus" and "Little Birds" by Anais Nin.

candystripper

P.S. Did ANYONE like Ann Rice's "Beauty" series?
