Yes, there are Doms that do share, and Skully pointed out well some different ways and possible reasons for them. Most Doms that share, or "loan out" a sub, are extremely careful about who the partner is. It may be in front of him or not. It may be same sex or not. The sub may be asked to switch to a dominant position for the session. There are many different scenarios that could come up and for many different reasons. It is more likely to happen, of course, if the Dom is poly.
It can be a way of a Master reinforcing in the slave that her body belongs to Him to do with as He pleases. However, this doesn't mean that He is simply offering her to the wolves. I was recently given a task of offering my "pleasuring services" through my profile. My Master watched over me with an eagle eye, quickly spotting liars and fakers. I have never felt so protected. Many misunderstood completely - assuming He was tiring of me and giving me away, that I must mean nothing to Him, that I was just a piece of meat or a doormat, etc. (I wrote a journal entry about the experience.) The real fact was that He was stretching me beyond my preconceived boundaries and taking me outside of my comfort zone. He was very proud that I stood behind His decision no matter what others would say to me. I learned to lean on Him like I never have before. The overall experience brought us closer.
