Does anyone here have any experiance with this procedure? From everything I've read so far it looks like something I'd really be interested in checking out with my doctor. Just interested in hearing if anyone here had tried it and what their experiance might be. Im really interested in some sort of permanant form of Borth Control but I dont have insurance and a tubal is just way out of my price range right now. Ive tried everything from pills to shots to IUDs and have had negitive reactions with everything we've tried. I have an appointment next week to get fitted for a diaphram since I cant handle anything with hormones in it apparently, but Id really rather have something more..permenant. Im 27 and I have 3 UMs of my own plus a step-UM. Im done and I know it, there are no chances of me ever changing my mind and my husband and I have both discussed and decided that if we EVER for any reason decide to have another UM, even if I havent been fixed, we are going to adopt.

check and see how much a vasectomy costs.  seriously.  its not an invasive procedure as a tubal ligation is, and the failure rate is about the same once his sperm count is verified.

ye, i did say failure rate.  there is STILL a failure rate on tubal ligation...i had one 15 years ago now and have been pregnant since.  i miscarried, which is a blessing, but still.  (i had the tubal because the doctor's opinion was that i possibly would not survive another pregnancy.)

I can't tell you personally... but you got me googling and I found this thread on another forum.  I only read the first page (its 28 pgs long) but I would assume there are a lot more testimonials in there too.

Kitten, I would LOVE for my husband to get a vasectomy, and with his insurance it would be compleatly free..but he flat out refuses..something about someone coming at his nuts with something sharp. Ive been begging him for years and its gotten to the point where he gets angry if anyone even mentions it.

I wish they had a state by state listed network of doctors who would do this without all of the hoop jumping. Not everyone wants to breed.

oh, well poop.  my first ex had it done, and wolf said he's going to as soon as he gets insurance again.  he doesnt want any more kids and doesnt want to take any chances.

i understand his reticence, but dang.  its a LOT less risky for the man in the relationship to take that step than for a woman to.

I am sterilized, with Essure. Awesome little invention, that.

It was no more difficult a procedure to endure that a regular pap smear. The doctor that inserted them for me usually has an anesthesiologist put his patients to sleep but I opted to do it awake. I saw no reason to be drugged for it, and I was right. It isn't necessary.

There some light bleeding after, like a light period, and very little discomfort while you heal, nothing more than the discomfort that you normally have with a period. I would definitely recommend it. Go for it!
