I'm thinking about buying a gag I found online. It looks sexy (I think), and it's made to be a trainer gag. I've never worn one myself, so I wanted to ask the ambiguous audience out their for opinions. It's a panel style gag and the link is here:

The online buying for some things  are great but in this case unless they have a great return policy i would say do not do it .Just from your posting , you state you have never worn one , and you do not know how this one fits you either .Looking cool and sexy in a for sale ad is easy  , a gag has to have form fit and function .those things you can not tell from a picture .
that would be my food for thought advice .

Now see, that's the kind of advice I need. Thanks for that.

I have had excellent service with this company and it's sister site www.sub-shop.com.  And all of the products I have bought from them have been top notch, although sizing is on the small side.  I don't think you can go wrong with the majority of their stuff.  I personally like their "sturdy" line of harness gags that have two straps on the top to prevent the top from slipping off.  I have this one and I couldn't be happier, save to have a model in which mouthpieces could be traded out. http://www.bdsmtoybox.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=2919

I'm south of you, in the king county washington area.

Just getting my shop going again after a move. The problem with genric bdsm site toys is that you never know what sort of a head the pattern was modeled on. For instance, males have a different jawline than the average female-a muffle gag designed on the head of a 250 pound guy may have fit issues with a slimmer female line.

So one size does not neccesarily fit all. At the same time,an average site does not make thier own stuff-they contract it out on batches from a mass producing wholesaler. And the more changes that supplier has to make for the sake of fit-the more time, and time is money.

My pleasure .. And Leatherist is correct , and is saying close to what i said with more detail .I always love the one size fits all that mainly never fits , yet who knows you may get lucky .But thats also why i but the denote  on my first post about the return policy .
If you can wear it , and the fit form and  function is there and quality for the price  keep it and go forth and be muffled .But again you can not tell any of those things by a picture .
What has worked well for someone may not work at all for you , yet if you wait and shop for that item in person your more than likely going to know and enjoy it much more .
best wishes and happy shopping

I think the gag shown in the link is awesome! And the flexibility of the material combined with the adjustability (laces in the back, adjustable straps) should make a good fit very possible. However, with the only size options being small or large, how do you know which one to choose?

Leatherist -> RE: Trainer Gags (8/3/2008 9:28:00 PM)

Even in something as simple as cuffs, you need to have five sizes. Extra small, small, medium, large and extra large...

Retailers don't want to pay the extra for a maker to create and ship those. It means the cost per unit rises, and you cannot be as competitve-or so they think.

And while the top and bottom ends of the spectrum are probably only about ten per cent-you gain the loyalty of a larger market when they tell thier friends how well you served thier needs.

And how well you serve your customers has a great deal to do with how well your bottom line fares.

Wow. That's more replies than I expected. Thanks for all the advice. The company's return policy isn't the best, but I think I might have to risk it. The thing is just so pretty. *Sigh*

hardbodysub:
Further down the page neck sizes are listed, so at least there's something to measure by.

Noella -> RE: Trainer Gags (8/13/2008 5:22:33 PM)

Thanks to everyone who offered advice. Just to let you know, I took the risk and bought the gag. I'm glad I did! I got it in plain black leather and the size I chose fits very well. I will have a picture of it up in a few days on my profile, pretty  much as soon as CM approves the shot. For those of you interested anyway.

Yay!

kassandraTG -> RE: Trainer Gags (8/24/2008 12:39:24 PM)

Noella,

I have the gag you show and it is a nice gag.  The straps over the head could have been designed a little better as they dont sit where I think they should.  If you get this one, the tighter you lace it, especially the top, the easier it is to wear.  I have had it on for an hour and I think I could go a lot longer.  The drool factor is the limiting factor!
