Had he said that his personal life was nobody's business, the media would have just treated that like a confession of guilt ... followed by a wave of accusations that would carry equal "guilt" by lack of defacto denial.
 
The Senator's wife has not been accused of lying to anyone. She insists she forgave him. I'm willing to accept her word.


I agree with this.  It's between he and his wife.

What is more interesting to me is why we as a populous are forgiving of some affairs but not of others.

Status: offline 		Another distraction the media wants to give us...Edwards holds no public office at this time.  Meanwhile, we are in two wars that are hardly mentioned on television (we being America), we have tortured detainees (prisoners), our President has committed numerous crimes that are not talked about because of important things like: A mother who possibly killed her child, Obama not wearing an American flag lapel....

Complete and utter bullshit.

President, Senator, Mayor, Janitor ... there all people first. 
Our schools skip over teaching the fobiles of the Men and Women who've made what they teach.  They skip over the ugly parts to paint heros that We believe larger then life.  I'm sure Patrick Henery horse knew the hitching post at a few houses, not to mention Thomas Jefferson getting his kink on in the slave quarters.  Do their dirty secrets reduce their contribution to what we in the US have now?  Personally I think No One is larger then life and to expect it from them is only a guarnetee to let yourself down. 
The question should be, at least in My mind is IF his affiar effects his ability to lead, that is the reason were voting isnt it?

As far as the political angle or supposed media bias....

I don`t recall Newty getting hammered till after the ex dropped a dime on his cheating loser hide.He was also having another affair, during the Clinton impeachment.Don`t recall much adu about that one either.

Rep Livingston`s love child didn`t become known,till after the hypocrite made an ass of himself.

Republican JC Watts` love child wasn`t gone after, either.

This media bias whine is just BS and doesn`t make since.If a network has a story that`ll make them money,nothing will stop them from running it.

It`s a guarantee that the righties will charge media bias.yawn.....

The media with its world-wide reach has now an obligation to investors to 'get the story' but it seems there are those that can't take it as far as they want. Editors will sensor according to their taste...er political affiliations.

The Kennedys' both did M. Monroe, John first during pot-parties (helped with his back pain) at the white house no less and Robert at least once in Cal.

This prompted Marilyn to have allegedly told a close g/f..."Don't fuck a politician or you'll be really fucked." Marilyn was also supposed to have told Robert upon his betreyal...I am going to tell everything about you guys...Iam going to spill the beans.

Some say...she had to go. The whole time, at the time...nobody said a word. Not a peep in the press until after his death. Hell the secret service had to let her in and more than once. The white house staff knew what the hell was up.

Status: offline 		Sometimes, I wonder if people actually really care that much about this kind of issue, and whether the 'scandal' isn't a pure self-serving media creation. The double-standards are laughable though: who's up in arms over the way McCain acquired Cindy? He's been lying about his first divorce consistently, even recently (see: his biography where he lies about the dates when he shacked up with Cindy, and applying for a marriage license when he was still married to the first Mrs McCain, and more pesky little details of that kind). Now, that's his problem: but surely, it should be a matter for scrutiny for the concerned citizens of this world too  ?
