I think you missed my point .....

Problem: they found your peper spray
Reaction: Eh, whatever.

Problem: they found your bdsm books
Reaction: Dear god! We are living in the most opresive purticinal police state ever!

Last time I checked, the government has never surounded a porn studio with swat team members, pumped it full of iligeal nerve gas, run over it with armored tanks, and burn the place to the ground. Then justified their actions by claiming 'they were stockpiling porn.'

Wow. This is disturbing. I guess I should count myself fortunate in that the number of times I've crossed the border with my laptop, I haven't had it searched beyond the usual wipedown to detect explosives. I guess profiling works in my favour because I look whitebread and straight-laced. Mind you, even if they looked, they would have a prolonged search before they would find anything "seditious". I don't use "porn" as an identifier. Although...I do have some pictures of me in an obvious spot (photos). I wonder if it's possible to have one's computer confiscated for having nekkid pictures of one's self on it. I wonder if any of my "bookmarks" would constitute being obscene. The mind boggles.

I hope those in the linked story are able to fight this successfully.

I know one time when I returned home (to Canada) from a job interview in the USA, I didn't have any meaningful identification with me (obviously before 9-11) and I was given a hard time by the border officer in attempting to prove I was Canadian. I think my "I don't give a shit" attitude in responding to a bunch of asinine questions (about the sports teams in communities where I grew up - places I hadn't been to in over 15 years) was what finally convinced them I wasn't an illegal trying to get in. Had I really been illegal, I would have tried to answer everything, I suppose.

Disturbing would be the word for it.  Surprising.... no.

Not only is this a problem on the boarders in Canada, but it's even worse for those of us living in this POLICE STATE.  They are not only picking on individuals but families as well.  I've found a few websites that are really disturbing.

So it seems the Government of Canada is not only having a problem with gays, lesbians, bdsm, subs, but families as well.  Something is really wrong here.

Kinda makes you appreciate America a little more, huh?
