According to those close to the CBSA, it not an uncommon story. And as the Supreme Court of Canada has pointed out in the Little Sister's bookstore case, porn that would be perfectly legal to make, sell and possess in Canada is often stopped at the border. Academic papers, fictions, letters and correspondence, bootlicking pictures, family photos — it can all get you in trouble.

They had a nice Liberal stint there.. even got Gay equal rights.

The Conservitives came back swinging.

The 'little sisters bookstore' trial, as well as the Butler decision found that blocking porn on moral grouns was unconstitutional but that blocking porn because it was 'degrading to women' is totaly ok. The rulings included the writings of Andrea Dworkin and Catharine MacKinnon to back their decision and I woudl hardly call them consertivies.

Typical ..... the feminist left atacks sexual freedom and folks just blame the right wing for it anyway.

Which brings us to the question, how would Gay porn be degraging to Women ? Doesn't sound too logical.

When I first read the thread I thought to myself "What, now they turn your PC on to see what to have on the harddrive ?", I guess they do, after reading the article. Of course they were flagged having a car in tow, but most likely the wrong bumper sticker can get you that as well.

Well now I am convinced.

The dudes the seized it 'wanted" it. AND they are afraid that they are pictured performing homosexual acts.

Ya know Gay porn tho IS sliding in quality. It has gotten as corny as straight porn.

I can just see the creative movies now. A twist on the prison guard fantasy. "my laptop he cried" "my lap top he cried" as the guard had his way with the boy. LMAO

Oh it gets worse than that.

The Little sisters Bookstore said that porn was 'men opressing women' even when there was no women in it. But before that was R. v. Glad Day Bookshops Inc that found that porn was 'men opressing women' even when there was no men in it.

Ive had a couple of latex/bondage videos confiscated at the border, altho they were parcels being shipped not on the personal level.
I dont take a laptop into the USA for the same reason, specially now they can seize whatever they want, music, movies, software and not just pron.

Radical anythingism is dangerous and can have a negative effect on human rights. It can also have a positive one. The problem is, no one country or government agrees on what human rights are, and in many cases don't even agree on what is human. Gays, Fetishist, Women, Blacks, Irish, Chinese, Indians et al at one time or another were considered less than human and therefore sans Human rights. It took radical feminism to give women the vote, radical efforts on the parts of Blacks, Irish, Indians, Chinese, Gays to get their rights recognized over the years. As I said there has been some positive effort, but there are always going to be pockets of ignorance and petty tyrants who believe that their way is the only way. We saw it in this country with McCarthy, Hoover, and we are likely to see it again., not only here but in Iran, Afghanistan, China, Russia, Canada, name the country there is someone who believes his way is the only way and will spend the efort and lives to enfource that.

Anyything can be shown to harm any group of people if you want it to. Statistics and opinion are easy to manipulate. Hell for gay porn hurting women it is only enough to say..All the good men are Gay. It's not true, but, you'd be surprised at how many believe that and believe still that being gay is a choice, not something as built in as breathing. Sooo..gay porn promotes gay sex which lures the good men and genes way from women.. I laugh at that thought and you laugh at it, but my grandmother would have believed it fully and there are a lot more out there who still will believe that despite Kinsey and other researchers. Hell the religious right still tends to believe that you can cure gay'ness as if it is a cold or addiction to be over come.

This is why I am both happy and sad to have seen this article. Glad because it points up what is happening and encourages people to face it and do something about it, sad because in this day and age it is happening.

Hey..this is completely true.

I was turned away from the canadian border after a "random search" turned up my bdsm reading materials and my submissive journal.

That, and they said I was trying to bring in a concealed weapon that could pose a major threat to the canadian people.

Pepper spray.

See, this part doesn't surprise me... I had a performance in Canada a while back and I did notice that the weapons laws are very different than what I'm used to. Oddly enough I bet if it had been a knife they would have let you through.

In some juristictions, rescue hooks are assault weapons. My previous credit card processer dumped me not because of of the sex-aspects of my business, but because of product libility. They said the stuff I sell might hurt people.

There is no three day waiting period to buy porn. You dont need a permit to own porn. You dont need a licens to sell porn. It is posible to buy porn off the internet. You are not requirted to regestar your porn.

And somehow people think that sexual-freedom is the most oppressed and vilified group there is?

They surely do think that way.

They combed my laptop, couldn't find any trace of porn or bdsm material on there, and a border guard went on to claim: "We can't find any evidence that you may be involved in seditious activity, but I can't allow you entry into Canada because you may be trying to involve yourself in a slavery and pornography ring".

The b*tch was reading a bodice ripper novel not even an hour later. She even accused me of being on medication because I felt it neccessary to call my family and my dom from my cell phone to let them know I was alright; at one point she threatened to put me in jail.

What did they find on my laptop, you may ask?

Another border guard: "Wow, you really like Sailor Moon, huh?!"
