MaxNight -> Mail problem with the main site... (8/11/2008 3:10:56 PM)

Hey all.

Sorry to post this here, but there's no other place in the MB for it.

To preface - I am a web professional - been doing it for a long time - I'm not a layperson, and I am certainly not someone who absent-mindedly deletes files and the like....

That having been said...

The main site loses mails.  No two ways about it.

I learned the hard way, after spending nearly a half hour writing a long mail, then sending it, then, the next morning - it's GONE.  This happened subsequently with numerous short mails... then, today, I went to read a mail I had received from someone - and it was gone.  I mean GONE.  Now I clean out my mailbox MAYBE once a week... and I know for sure that I didn't in the past 24 hours.  But, lo and behold - it's gone.

I m now at the point where, if I have to write ANY kind of mail of substance (aren't they ALL?), I open a notepad window and write it there, save it, then paste it into CM.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Now and again I get that, as well as random refreshes, I find it has to do more with my browser, everyone I know who uses firefox with my addons has similar problems

MaxNight -> RE: Mail problem with the main site... (8/11/2008 3:30:35 PM)

Well - the mail is on the server... so whether or not I use FF shouldn't matter.

So - as in my example - I went to my mail, and read one.   Didn't delete it.  Just closed it.  Actually went back and read it again about 30 minutes later.  Closed it again.  This was last night.

Today?  It's gone.  And it was a response to something I sent - which still exists in my sent box.

Urrgh.

Is it possible that when you made your profile the server burped?  I keep hearing about this but have never had it happen...and by now it should have if it were a site-wide problem.  I suppose you could write to support, but I scarcely see what they could do.

Meanwhile, a big fat cyber hug for the annoyance.

It my be wise to also update your user password just in case you do have someone logging into your account and playing games with you.

Edited to add: I have yet to see an email problem within my account.

You didn't deny or acknowledge your browser choice.  If you do a search, you will find some issues with different browsers, different antivirus software, etc., etc., that seems to make no sense, but there it is.
