A neat and gifted artist.

quote:

Over the centuries, millions have visited museums all over the world to see remarkable Rembrants, marvelous Monets and gorgeous Gauguins.

But all those art lovers over all those years would fit into a tiny corner of this museum: The virtual museum of the Internet, where untold numbers at this very moment are seeing - and marveling, and sharing - the three-dimensional pavement drawings of English artist Julian Beever. For this accomplished chalk artist, the Internet is his pavement.

"Exactly," Beever told Sreenivasan. "That's my medium, really. If it wasn't for the Internet, my work would be totally unknown.

NuevaVida -> RE: Julian Beever (8/17/2008 7:29:11 AM)

I love this stuff.  Like GT, I've seen some of his stuff before but didn't know his name.  Very cool, Level, thanks for sharing!

You're welcome, ladies [;)] I hadn't seen it before today, and I was amazed with it.

NeedingMore220 -> RE: Julian Beever (8/17/2008 8:06:35 AM)

I've seen his work before in emails people have sent me, and love it.  He's amazingly talented.

Level -> RE: Julian Beever (8/17/2008 8:09:46 AM)

I'm saving some of his work for my screensaver pics.

windchymes -> RE: Julian Beever (8/17/2008 9:01:28 AM)

Wow, if only Bert from Mary Poppins could see this.....[:D]

He's amazing....I found myself looking really hard to make the work look one-dimentional, and I can't!

Level -> RE: Julian Beever (8/17/2008 9:19:03 AM)

I know, it's mindbending! [8D]

Hippiekinkster -> RE: Julian Beever (8/17/2008 10:18:12 AM)

TY, level. The man is sublimely gifted. Like windchymes, I found myself unable to perceive his coke bottle chalk painting as one-dimensional. My mind simply cannot see it as anything other than a huge coke bottle sitting on the sidewalk.

Trompe-l'oeil-l'oeil

camille65 -> RE: Julian Beever (8/17/2008 2:12:44 PM)

Like some of the others, 'thanks Level because I didn't know his name'.
[:D]
I love his work, it just makes me smile and feel good knowing there are people who see the world that way and can convert that seeing into something to share with others.
