why is it that some people think that, just because i'm a man that i am into things like sports, westerns, war flicks and boy's night out? and, when they find out i do not like these things, they automatically think i'm gay? is it a requirement for men to have to be into these things?

i am not gay. hell, i can barely stand to be near men as it is. can someone please explain this to me? i'm at a complete loss.

Hmm, a possible throwback to the times when women were expected to do nothing more than stay at home and raise babies? Sports USED to be considered a MAN'S passtime. While times may have changed, peoples 'ideal's' are still stuck in the past.

Just an observation, but it sounded good lol.

Why? Because they expect you to conform, as they did.

Sports? I used to play football, weight train, run track, play tennis, swim, bike, and etc. But I never watch sports for any reason. I hate watching sports. Men watching men sweat and exercise sounds pretty weird to me. I wouldn't really care to see women do it either for that matter.

Westerns? I guess I like the ones since the 80s. Not a favorite genre of mine by any means.

War flicks? Just for the same reasons I might watch Richard II or something - as history made fiction (redundant I know).

Boy's night out? I can't imagine wasting an evening in the company of men for no other reason than that they are men. If they were going to do something interesting, maybe. But then I also don't play cards, play many video games, play many PC games, or any of that stuff either. I do like to shoot pool and some board games though. I like Monopoly, Scrabble, Clue, Chess, and a game called "Cathedral."

The gay thing is an attempt to ridicule or shame you into conformity.

Requirement? Fuck 'em all. Bu then if you aren't into their things, don't expect to make many friends with no interests in common with you.

I am not trying to kill time, I am trying to enjoy my time. I please only myself - others might find me quiet or dull.

I read - a lot (news, editorial, fiction, good comics), I watch about 5 DVD movies per week, I watch 3 TV shows a week (first run only), I cook, I paint, I write, I sculpt, I play with children's toys (mainly of the construction type, 3D puzzles, and Chogokin), I listen to a lot of music (all kinds, not much pop or country though), and I play with my cats. I spend some time in between tasks on boards like this, about six of them. I also enjoy hiking, museums, good food, and Ren Faires.

I love my life and who I am. Other opinions don't count.

Hi people.

"Hey man, did you watch wrestling last night? It was awsome." Hmmm Did I sit and watch half naked sweaty men grunting and moaning while holding each other close?, "No...no I didn't.".

In my trade I am surrounded by a lot of macho men. Hockey, football, hard drinking, whoring around and peacocking. Not for me.

Also, I do believe that men are for the most part, more simple minded then women. Not stupid, just a more narrow perspective on things in general. I think this was a strength on our part, not a weakness. We developed having to remain concentrated on the hunt, nothing else at that time. Then we would be concentrated on the battle.

The women on the other hand, again, for the most part, stayed behind in the camp/village caring for the children, mending the clothes, preparing the meat and hides, caring for the sick , the elders and the dying. That is just a few of the things they had to keep thier minds on at any one time. That was thier strength.

The women bonded with each other in a way that is a mystery to me. The men bonded under completly different circumstances. Look at sports, what is the goal? To put the puck in the net, get the ball past the line. Very simple. The rules might be a little more complicated than that though.

But today is very different. Putting the puck in the net and putting the little ball in the cup, to me, is pointless and will do nothing to achieve my personal goals.

michealMI, don't sweat it man. [:D] Set your goals and work to achieve them. If your idea of fun doesnt included following the masses or watching John Wayne movies, then all the better!

I have a tendency to ramble on I guess..[;)]
