[sm=welcome.gif] to the Forums, suhlut.

You have some great advice here and people who are willing to chat with you when you need some support.
I second what Alumbrado said about changing your daily routine.  Change your habits and replace times you would be smoking with physical activity.

Best wishes to you,

Vendaval

I'll be having my last cigarette in around 5 hours. Thanks to you all for the advice, I've tried to give up before, with patches (gave me nightmares). Champix (morning, afternoon and evening sickness). Cold turkey is the way to go, with an added shot of willpower.
Have read tips and advice, one I find interesting is to have glocose tablets handy for the morning, (apparently they help with blood sugar levels of which the effects are similair to cravings for nicotine). Anything is worth a try lol.
Thanks for all the tips and advice, any more will be gratefully recieved [:D]
xx

Congrats!  I quit about 6 years ago.  It was the hardest thing I have ever done.  Took the patch AND wellbutrin to quit and I still cried every day.

In addition to improved health, you will enjoy MUCH MORE MONEY!  Yay!

Congrats to all those that have quit and those in the process and I hope you succeed

I started off at 15 years old and smoked 34 years  I am quitting unfortunately a bit too late..... I have lung cancer and going thru the staging process now to find out how bad it is and to find out if it has mestasized from another point in my body .. even with surgery if viable  the ping pong sized mass will cost me for sure my right middle and lower lobes and possibly the whole right lung. and I will have less than 1 in 20 odds of surviving more than 5 years... and it might be that a heart arrythmia condition that I have that was likely triggered by the cigarettes and coffee might have succeeded in catching it early due to having a chest xray to see if the heart was damaged   there was no damage to the heart but that was how the lung mass was detected

Thanks ladies!

as per my usual habit, i went and did some studying online for tips, and one of them was to take a straw, ( i cut mine to the aprox size of a average unlit ciggy) and use it for whenever the urge to put something between lips hits.. and simply inhale FRESH air, through the straw.

i kinda like it, and am thinking i will prob be "smoking" my straws" for a few weeks at least. lol

I always recommend this to people and used it when I quit.
