MHOO314 -> Giving Thanks (11/22/2005 8:20:24 PM)

Just wondering what you will be giving thanks for this holiday ( not that its the only time to give thanks, but..) I recently lost My Mom, thought the world was ending, I still do at times, she was such a key part of our lives--but I am thankful for My teen, she has grown into such a great person--and those key people who helped us through a tough time---and chocolate.

I'm thankful for those around me who love me and those I love back.

Sappy yep, but there is so much despair in the world we have to take it where we can get it.

I do try to count My blessings each day, but this is a special time of year in the USA and we often forget to give thanks.
So I will be giving thanks:
That My mother is doing reasonably well and I will see her over Christmas
That My older daughter is happy now that she is healthily pregnant and I will be a grandma in March (My first!)
That My younger daughter is not dead yet from working three jobs while attending college full time on scholarship.
That My elderly dog is hanging in, and will be with Me for a little longer.
That I have a roof over My head, good friends, and reasonable health.
That I wake up each day.

I may wish for or want other things, but what more could I need?

Chaingang -> RE: Giving Thanks (11/23/2005 12:18:44 AM)

I give thanks every day that I am not this dog:

Sadly, it died today. So next year I will have to have something else to be thankful for.

I am most grateful that 7 months ago I met and fell in love with the most amazing man I have ever met. He is my Daddy/Dom and someday soon I hope to call him Master.

I'm also very grateful for my beautiful daughter, my family, and my dear friends.

Quivver -> RE: Giving Thanks (11/23/2005 5:40:25 AM)

I'm thankful I was given the good sense to know that although
life is not always what I want it to be, I know it could be worse.

I am thankful that I can see the sun rise every morning, and set every evening.
I am thankful that my family and friends are there for me, any time of day or night.
I am thankful that I was given the most precious gift in the world, my daughter, and that every day I can still find a new joy in her.

Most of all; I am thankful for the gift of life.

Kindred2Evil -> RE: Giving Thanks (11/23/2005 7:16:44 AM)

I'm thankful for my unmentionable.
I'm thankful for my Dad living to see another year.
I'm thankful for finally meeting all of my biological family.
I'm thankful that my husband comes home safe and sound to me after being over the road for a week at a time.
I'm thankful that I live in a country that lets me be who I am and say what I want when I want without fear of repurcussions.
I'm thankful for my friends, both in my every day life and online.
I'm thankful for the many many blessings that have been bestowed on us.
Oh, and I'm thankful I am having a hysterectomy in Feb. of next year, which I know sounds odd, but WHOOHOO! LOL

perverseangelic -> RE: Giving Thanks (11/23/2005 9:44:46 AM)

I'm thankful for my partner, and the fact that he and I aren't afraid of vastly contradictory changes in our relationship. I'm thankful that we love each other foremost. (Can yout ell there's been upheaval lately :) )

I'm thankfull that I've found medication that works for me and keeps me stable, and I'm thankful that I qualify for assistance for that medication.

I'm thankful I know what I want to do in the future, and am taking steps to make it happen.

I'm thankful that I'm learning how ot keep my family at arms distance.

Mercnbeth -> RE: Giving Thanks (11/23/2005 10:41:55 AM)

A close friend from my old days in NYC sent this to me this morning. I feel it's worth passing on. Please excuse the capital letters. They are not meant to be indicative of yelling, just that he or his source is typing impaired.

REASONS TO GIVE THANKS!

FOR THE WIFE WHO SAYS ITS HOT DOGS TONIGHT, BECAUSE SHE IS HOME WITH ME, AND NOT OUT WITH SOMEONE ELSE.

FOR THE HUSBAND WHO IS ON THE SOFA BEING A COUCH POTATO, BECAUSE HE IS HOME WITH ME AND NOT OUT AT THE BARS.

FOR THE TEENAGER WHO IS COMPLAINING ABOUT DOING DISHES BECAUSE IT MEANS SHE IS AT HOME, NOT ON THE STREETS.

FOR THE TAXES I PAY BECAUSE IT MEANS I AM EMPLOYED.

FOR THE MESS TO CLEAN AFTER A PARTY BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE BEEN SURROUNDED BY FRIENDS.

FOR THE CLOTHES THAT FIT A LITTLE TOO SNUG BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE ENOUGH TO EAT.

FOR MY SHADOW THAT WATCHES ME WORK BECAUSE IT MEANS I AM OUT IN THE SUNSHINE.

FOR A LAWN THAT NEEDS MOWING, WINDOWS THAT NEED CLEANING AND GUTTERS THAT NEED FIXING BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE A HOME.

FOR ALL THE COMPLAINING I HEAR ABOUT THE GOVERNMENT BECAUSE IT MEANS WE HAVE FREEDOM OF SPEECH..

FOR THE PARKING SPOT I FIND AT THE FAR END OF THE PARKING LOT BECAUSE IT MEANS I AM CAPABLE OF WALKING AND I HAVE BEEN BLESSED WITH TRANSPORTATION.

FOR MY HUGE HEATING BILL BECAUSE IT MEANS I AM WARM.

FOR THE LADY BEHIND ME IN CHURCH WHO SINGS OFF KEY BECAUSE IT MEANS I CAN HEAR.

FOR THE PILE OF LAUNDRY AND IRONING BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE CLOTHES TO WEAR.

FOR WEARINESS AND ACHING MUSCLES AT THE END OF THE DAY BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE BEEN CAPABLE OF WORKING HARD.

FOR THE ALARM THAT GOES OFF IN THE EARLY MORNING HOURS BECAUSE IT MEANS I AM ALIVE.

AND FINALLY, FOR TOO MUCH E-MAIL BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE FRIENDS WHO ARE THINKING OF ME.

Enjoy the Holiday everyone, and if possible, share your "blessings" with someone who needs them most.

I am thankful that I am still capable of loving and of being loved by family and friends. I am thankful that inspite of the horrors of this world that there still exist compassion, caring and empathy within the hearts of most human beings.

FangsNfeet -> RE: Giving Thanks (11/23/2005 11:05:33 PM)

I'm thankfull for finally being off work these holidays. I'm thankfull for being able to spend more time with my family this year. I'm thankfull to be taking a break from all the charity work I'm normally associated with during this time of year. I must be going soft. Instead of donating to the continuation of the poors suffering, I'm just going to be kind of enough to let them starve/freeze to death. It's really not nice to allow the suffering continue to suffer year in and year out. Any how, I'm greatful to be having all this extra time. I can now sit back, relax, and enjoy Pets and our families cooking.
