KCMOLucky -> International Travel for a Domme? (11/23/2005 4:08:52 AM)

Hi everyone,

I have the opportunity to travel to Europe for occasional sessions with a slave I've met here on CM. Aside from getting together a passport and having handy the US Embassy information for each country I stop in, what would be steps to ensure my safety and comfort durring travels? This will be my first international trip, and, aside from English, I only speak a smattering of German and Mexican Spanish.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Ms. Lucky

Sew a Canadian flag on your backpack.

KIDDING!

Get yourself a good guidebook to the places you plan to visit. I like the "Rough Guide", but a lot of people like Rick Steves' books and Lonely Planet. All of them have intro chapters on planning for your trip and a list of resources, websites, etc. Avoid the guidebooks that are printed on glossy paper and have lots of pretty photos. They're expensive, weigh a lot, and aren't very helpful (IMO).

The State Dept. maintains a website for travelers but it's a bit alarmist (e.g., "Don't go to Nepal because of the deadly Maoists!"). It's a nice resource for familiarizing yourself with potential risks, but as long as you're not going to the Paris suburbs I don't think there would be anything to concern yourself with in Europe.

If you're traveling solo, I'd google around for websites that are designed for women traveling alone. I know there are some out there but unfortunately don't know the links off-hand.

Enjoy your trip.

P.S. I've done a fair bit of traveling, not so much in Europe, but if you have any specific questions, give me a shout on the other side.

I don't know how well you know this slave (hopefully fairly well since you are travelling so far to see this person), but if this is a first meeting I would definitely stay in a hotel and know your surroundings. I often travel to England alone and am always prepared with maps, train timetables, taxi schedules, etc. I would also suggest having a cell phone with international capability. It can be a bit expensive, but it's really nice to have in case of emergency. There are several companies that rent international phones.

Best of luck with your trip,
Julie

Besides the other excellent advice given...

See if anyone posts on the boards from where you are going and mail them for local info.
Look up e-groups in the area and maybe make contacts or find out about munches where you could meet others.
Have fun!

Oumae

Pollux, Thank you for the advice. I'll do a search for those books sometime soon. :-) Iwill be traveling alone, but I'm by nature cautious, so I have that in my favor.

Sartoris, Thank you for the site! Was quite a good read.

JulieAnn, Yes, I know him very well, and did a background check on him to make sure he was an, lets say, upstanding citizen. Thank you for the tips; I hadn't thought of an international phone at all.

Oumae, Thanks for this advice. I'll be headed to Latvia, but I'd thought I might stop in France, and I have two close friends from there who would be more than willing to help out. I'll definitely look for English-friendly groups. Thanks you!

You all have been excellent, thank you! Anything else?[:D]

I'll second all this advice but extend it. I'd say if you are traveling anywhere further than you can drive home that night or morning, you'd be wise to follow similar steps.

This is my advice for everyone regardless of roles.

Being able to take care of yourself will be very valuable should anything go wrong for any reason.

Make sure you have done your homework and checked your slave out completely--the rules of safety still apply even in another country--safe calls still prevail--if you can't find someone to take that role--I work in international marketing and am on the phone with countries at all hours, contact Me off boards and I'd be glad to help---make sure someone back here has your itinerary--and the contact info for the slave you are to meet--best of luck--

Dear KCMOLucky,

Fuck all that, you've beat one, you've beat them all. Make sure the slave shows you around the interesting and historic places. In France, the Louvre, the eiffel tower, the Arch de triumphe and so on. Eat at little country bars or backroads places, not the common tourista venues. Explore everything. Life ain't always gonna be like it is. I spent nearly 3 years in Germany......saw alotta things, and although I was in or near the town of Ulm, I never got around to going to Albert Einstien's place. This is something I will regret for all my life. He is a hero of mine.

Do bee a do bee, don't bee a don't bee.

Smiles,
Ron

One last thing, grab a pack of electrical outlet adapters if you use curling irons, hot rollers etc, those you can get at Best Buy, radio Shack, even the airport--oh and if you get to London, do a play or two and take the train (First Class) to Edinborough--and try to get some time to view one of London's Dungeons--(BDSM of course) they are the best in the world--

mnottertail -> RE: International Travel for a Domme? (11/27/2005 7:41:23 AM)

Excellent! Excellent advice, I didn't think of the adapters, being male.
The Strand is an excellent theater, picadilly circus is simply a roundabout and not a carnival, don't waste your time looking for it. I enjoyed the play, "No, sex please, we're British". Rolled in the aisles laughing, and was looked at askance by the proper Brits around me, but merely said, "I'm American".... all was understood after that. Remember that a pound is worth more than a dollar, so it ain't funny money like other countries. The Train to Edinburg.....yes, a memorable trip, I did it from the other way into London. See the loch ness monster if you can. Enjoy.

Sorry for the interrupt.

Ron

riots around Paris are finished and there was only 1 thousand young people, nothing compared to the 3 millions people who live here. Dont look too much at Foxnews [:D] Paris was not in flames and people was not assaulted in the streets.
I think security is worse in the east countries of Europe (like Lithuania, Romania and ex Yugoslavia) than in suburbs of Paris.

OHHHH and one last thing, now that we have all helped you, you must promise to come home and share as much of your fun as you can--

mnottertail -> RE: International Travel for a Domme? (11/27/2005 10:20:53 AM)

one more thing, if you enjoy walking, when in the British empire.......those people don't drive like the rest of the world......look Right Left Right, not Left Right Left as you do in the US. Squashed many a Yank that way,

yeah, we want a slide show!!!!!!!!!
