SylvereApLeanan -> Cleaning Rubber (8/26/2008 2:31:44 PM)

I just bought a new rubber flogger.  Then I realized I'm not sure what to use to clean it. (D'oh!)  I'm allergic to bleach so that's out.  I checked old threads but didn't find what I needed.

Could someone please recommend a cleaning product or method strong enough to kill hepatitis but won't damage my new toy?

I use soap and water to clean rubber.  Bleach seems to fatigue rubber, as does isopropyl alcohol.  If I get blood on rubber, I'll use soap and cold water and then Barbicide or Madicide or similar broad spectrum -cide.

Thanks!  I was thinking soap and water would work to clean it.  The antimicrobial is the more important thing.

Never use bleach on something like that. Potassium Hypochlorite(bleach) can cause it to dissolve. Try this instead.

mix 2/3 white vinegar (clear) and 1/3 water; let soak for 24 hours. Rinse with clean water. No rubber smell/taste, no vinegar smell, and odor free.

remember to also condition it after cleaning and store correctly . Nothing worse than dried out,stuck together , cracking , falling apart  tools . enjoy .

I would think that SafeSuds would work on it...
Im not sure though...
