Whats windpower going for now, Tex?.

'bout the same.  'bout 5 cents per kilowatt-hour.

NumberSix -> RE: Sentor Obama's accomplishments (9/1/2008 5:10:44 PM)

The wind power industry is also creating thousands of jobs for communities and for the state. Wind technology and the various aspects of producing electricity from wind power can help to keep employment in Texas after the rigs stop producing oil.

from a site.

Doesn't this sorta thing meet the definition of a 'green job'   and why would republicans be against it if Arbusto is for it?

Keeps costs down, provides jobs, and so on.  Why drill?

Just to make sure I understand - you want to compare McCains second session to Obamas second session to mitigate the fact that Obama is a rookie.. but don't consider that running for the office of President is a mitigating factor?

You're right, I don't.

Okay, you don't believe that running for President is a mitigating factor. Thanks for clarifying.  I think it's naive to believe that, but you believe what you believe. Since that is your belief, then can you answer my other question? How come McCain has the worst attendance record in the senate? Why is being a senator so unimportant to him that he doesn't bother to show up to vote?

If you care to turn the question around and ask why Obama has a similar record, my answer is.. because running for President is a mitigating factor. Since that's not an answer for you .. what is your answer?

Personally, I'd say it meets the definition of a good job.

As for being against wind power, McCain's ads and web site say he supports the development of a variety of energy sources, including renewable sources such as wind, hydroelectric, and solar.  True, McCain is focusing more on clean coal and nuclear energy, but that is not the same as being opposed to wind power.  (Given some of the variables involved in wind power production, clean coal and nuclear are probably more viable intermediate-term solutions to energy needs).

Thadius -> RE: Sentor Obama's accomplishments (9/1/2008 5:24:37 PM)

It sure is a mitigating factor, he has spent aproximately 140 days actually working as a Senator... That is a total for both sessions since he was elected.

Oh, the answer's the same. Difference is, McCain's built a considerable career in the Senate and passed some significant pieces of legislation.  Which is a mitigating factor in my book.

Mitigation would seem to have a flexible definition in your mind CL.

Obama can speak coherently, putting his sentences together intelligently, that puts him ahead of Reagan, Bush and McCain.

Strange ... I watched an interview with the man only a couple of weeks ago and every third word was "umm."  He is less articulate than people claim but still beats others.  If being articulate is what we vote for, then I am casting my ballot for Ron White.  He rarely stutters on stage even though he tends to stagger off it.

Sanity -> RE: Sentor Obama's accomplishments (9/1/2008 9:18:22 PM)

There is a lot of youtube video of Obama, making a total fool of himself. He seems like an utter moron without his teleprompter. It's easy enough to Google, or to find on youtube itself.
