colouredin -> update and thanks (9/1/2008 4:23:29 AM)

I am just writing this to bring people up to date on something i posted a fair old while ago. I was getting physically sick when I was on my periods and i wondered if there was a reason for it. Most people said there could be a link and to go to the docs which i did, i had full bloods taken and it turns out that I am anemic of iron and have pernicious anaemia along with a low blood count which means my immune system is fairly shot to shit esp around my period when tiredness levels are higher anyways. (there are a few other things im being treated for too in regards to hormones) So I just wanted to say thanks for the advice, I am probably the last person in the world anyone would think was anaemic (rosy cheeks) so i would never have thought about it so it was basically down to wondering and posting on here that I went so ta.

ouch.... my doc threatened me with that or eat more green leafy vegetables so I suddenly developed a love for spinach.  Glad you found an answer to it.

Thankfully, they were able to diagnose you early.  My mom has pernicious anemia and almost died before they figured it out.  Now she has a shot once a month and is healthy as can be.  Changing her diet would not help because her body stopped absorbing what she needed to survive.  It was pretty scary to watch my mom waste away and they were not able to find out why.  I am glad that was not the case for you.

yeah thats why i need the injections my body doesnt absorb it prooperly (everyone has been advising me to take vitimins so i dont have to cos i hate needles but i cant splain it well enough)

Im glad your mum is better now :D

My sister sells supplements, and one is called "greens".  Taking two little pills, is equal to 5-7 servings of deep green leafy veggies a day.  Adds alot of energy too.  If anyone is interested, they can contact me thru my profile, and I can give you contact info.

So glad you found what your medical problem was!  Good luck on getting well.  blessings.

Tell them you need the shot because there is a protein your body no longer makes and it is that protein that makes it possible to absorb B12. Without vitamin B12, you get anemic. That's about the simplest way to explain it. :)

Shot versus a lifetime of feeling ill.  I'd take the shot.

im still gonna take the shot, that doesnt stop it being gross
