I've just heard the Dems get pinged for thinking that charity comes from a government check.

Does that mean that Republicans will turn down government funds for faith-based initiatives?

BTW, for an excellent look at the government's plan and execution of faith-based initiatives, check out Tempting Faith, by David Kuo.  Sometimes he's a bit preachy, but it's an interesting story.

Psst... You do realize that Obama is in favor of them, and has recommended expanding the faith based initiative program, don't you?

Chalk one DOWN for Obama. Faith based ANYTHING has no business in government hands.

And I truly hope he takes a good hard look at the weaknesses in the program.  It will be interesting to see if he treats them as a priority.  One thing Kuo points out are all the times the initiatives were trotted out to get the "base" votes, then stuffed back with no support at all.
