OK, this was sparked by the thread about what makes people here smile.

Who, on these boards, makes you laugh? Or think? Or even get all hot and bothered?

i mean, when i come to the boards, there are certain threads i will read instantly, just because i have seen someone post to them.

i am not asking for anyone to list the people that annoy them, or for anyone to be negative. i just think it would be kind of cool for people who have posted, to read that what they have shared is positively received.

There are lots of people on the boards who catch my eye, so i am going to have to answer my own question in a little bit, after i make a list.

This is me procrastinating cleaning, btw.

I don't read here as much as I used to, but there are folks who draw my attention.

Stef's posts are invariably well informed.
AAkasha has amazing insights into what makes people tick.
GoddessDustyGold always has valuable things to say, based upon her experiences.
LadyAngelika is classy and has interesting perspectives.
John Warren is amazingly knowledgeable and witty as well.
GddssBella is perky and funny.
BlkTallFullfig is always balanced and temperate (and cute, too)
veronicaofML is a fellow Iowan

Oh, there are lots more... but that ought to get folks started. [;)]

LuckyAlbatross -> RE: The Boardies You Look For (11/26/2005 3:16:17 PM)

Wow talk about a call for ego and hurt feelings...

I rock. I know that much.

The people who rock to me, already know.

The people who DON'T rock to me probably know already and if they don't it's because my manners and their lack of understanding subtlety combine to do so.

*lol*
i am just realising it. Just looking through threads and recent posts... there are many people here who make these boards great. Thanks for getting it started.

It may take me a while to answer my own question. Ahhh, thread-starting on a whim!

Absolutely. My list ended arbitrarily.... I had to run. But I am just going to leave it there, because a full listing would be overwhelming to read. And my fingers would get tired, too!

slavejali -> RE: The Boardies You Look For (11/26/2005 5:02:21 PM)

im not going to name names, i generally like posts where its obvious the person has experience in what they are talking about, i like posts from aussies being aussie myself i can understand their humor and the way they put things, i like posts where i feel someone is geniunely describing their feelings or thoughts on a subject even if i dont particularly agree, i like posts with links giving more information to what they are posting about, i like posts that are non-judgemental. These are the types of posts that catch my eye.

ToServeIsToLive -> RE: The Boardies You Look For (11/26/2005 5:28:30 PM)

I try not to look at who is the sender of a message until after I've digested it. However, avatars mess all that up a lot of the time [:@]

It's a logical fallacy to assume a valid or invalid message because of the messanger; inevitably, there are quite a few who I do tend to respect and more easily accept what they have to say. I won't name them to avoid the appearance of a flatterer. There's only one person who I skip over reading generally, and don't make an attempt to understand. That decision came with much reluctance though.

darkinshadows -> RE: The Boardies You Look For (11/26/2005 5:31:55 PM)

I learn from all and about all.
There is no compelling competion, no wisdom race.
Those who touch me deeply, know it, not by merely telling them, but on how I have learnt.

These threads usually lead to hurt egos, and embarressed souls.

Peace and Love

veronicaofML -> RE: The Boardies You Look For (11/26/2005 5:56:55 PM)

none

MHOO314 -> RE: The Boardies You Look For (11/26/2005 6:22:26 PM)

I like the ones that demonstrate thought, experience, wisdom and compassion--even those with humor-- I take issue with the SA ones--

sanita -> RE: The Boardies You Look For (11/26/2005 8:05:48 PM)

In retrospect, i can see where this thread could be effectively hurting someone's feelings, but seriously, that was not the intent. It was more along the lines of a "Who do you admire?" Parlor game, or People Magazine's 50 most Beautiful People. Just because someone is not brought up, does not mean they are not admired, or considered less-than lovely inside and out.

i apologize, though, for not thinking a bit more before posting the question. i hope no one is truly offended.

slavejali, i have very much enjoyed the threads you have started, btw. Keep it up!

NakedOnMyChain -> RE: The Boardies You Look For (11/26/2005 8:46:49 PM)

Iron Bear, mnottertail, candystripper, siamsa24, sanita, KatyLied, JohnWarren, BlkTallFullfig, RosaB, DesertRat. Now my fingers are getting tired and I'm not near done. There are too many of you to list. Hell, I love you all and you damned well know it: Some of you for your useful insight, some for your biting wit, some for your blunt truth, some for your enlightened outlook, some for your wisened experience, some for your great humor. You all have your place here, and it wouldn't be quite the same without any of you.

Edited to add:
ME! I'm my own best friend. It's like "What About Bob" when I'm home alone.

RosaB -> RE: The Boardies You Look For (11/27/2005 7:16:07 AM)

RosaB (Don't tell anyone, she told me the B stands for Bitch) I admire her because she's cuter, smarter, wiser and knows more than anyone else in the entire universe. and oh yeah she doesn't take herself too serious either. I just want to give her a great big hug if I ever see her in person. [:D] Now where's that mirror, time for a love feast.

Sanita, I think most know you meant well and those with mature minds and thick skins won't be bothered by the high school antics that may be the end result of good intentions. (See the author of this posts opening comments [;)]).

Rosa, RosaB if you're nasty

perverseangelic -> RE: The Boardies You Look For (11/27/2005 10:40:45 AM)

I rather enjoy the political/religious debates, except when it devolves to "the bible said so so it's right."

I like it when there are civil disagreement/discussions. I feel that I learn a lot by passing back and forth ideas. Right now, for example, the discussion about mentors on the preditor-dominant thread. I feel that both myself and the people discussing it are preseting differnt veiws but in ways that we both can leran.

KatyLied -> RE: The Boardies You Look For (11/27/2005 11:00:07 AM)

Wow, so many, too many to name. Sometimes I like to sit back and watch the discourse, without participating. I especially like those who can throw in some funny, toss in some sarcasm (because I tend to go that way). I come here not just to learn, but to laugh. And I've met some cool cyber people (and more) on the message board.

IrishMist -> RE: The Boardies You Look For (11/27/2005 11:56:45 AM)

There is no way I would be able to answer this by picking out certain people. The opinions and advice are so diverse, that no one person stands out for me.

candystripper -> RE: The Boardies You Look For (11/27/2005 1:27:14 PM)

i can name people but have already recognized them in my posts. i can't say the threads often make me smile, but i do have an overall sense of being wished well and offered sage advice.

MissDiandSirHugh -> RE: The Boardies You Look For (11/27/2005 6:38:14 PM)

We have no names but enjoy all who post as it shows they take the time to either show some intrest in wishing to help or learn as well as give some smiles or frowns depending on their mood at the time.
Some stand out more than others but all just get ticks anyway

sub4hire -> RE: The Boardies You Look For (11/27/2005 7:08:40 PM)

A few stand out in a very negative way.

More than a few stand out because they are my friends and I admire them in one way or another.

Everyone knows who they are.

siamsa24 -> RE: The Boardies You Look For (11/27/2005 7:10:05 PM)

There is a certain someone that I watched for a long time before I started posting (and still keep an eye out for). There was a time that I would have left everything for him, even though there is a good chance that he doesn't even know who I am (and I was not and am not what he is looking for)
