No, my dads dodge camper will pull it to Zines if we got it out of park. We had no choice it was after hours and no garage was open, the tow guy said no shops would take it since they were all closed. it was tow it home and wait till 7 am, then take it in ourself* We didn't know he popped it back into park before leaving our drive, making this option nill unless we could pop it again* or leave it in the parking lot at work an have it towed somewhere in roseville. We don't know what the tow guy did to get it out of park should of asked him lol.. I suggested we call the company that towed him, but they're not open till like 8:30 or something and Zines is ready to take us now, at 7 am. As for the key ring, there's only one key on it, his car key:)

We called a tow truck, we just bought tripple A , so it shouldn't cost much and if it does, well it's only money it's replacable. mind you not that I am happy about it costing more money, but'cha do whatcha gotta do.

What, are you going to push it down the road once it's out of park? How did he get it out of park the last time? With or without turning the key? Why did you have it towed home if you don't know how to fix it?

If none of this works and the shop has to replace your ignition switch, take a look at your keyring. If you have a huge wad of crap on it, take it off, because the weight is probably what broke the switch.

Tripple A Came, an they said all you have to do to fix the problem is to put the key in and tap it a couple of times with a flashlight, an it'll run. So he's not taking it into have it looked at cause the car runs now. I still want it looked at cause the car shudders continually when you idle, and it started doing that 3 days after we got it fixed for leaking engien coolant, but oh well. We'll have it done, just not today.

That could be due to engine missing; check for loose spark plug or coil wires. Also make sure the coolant temp sensor is still connected.

Being a locksmith myself I shudder at some of the comments posted by amateur "locksmiths" here... I should say DO NOT do anything with a hammer to your steering coloum, Do NOT put anything into your ignition besides a proper working key FOR YOUR CAR.... I hate to be a hard ass about it but MANY of the problems I encounter on a day to day basis are these two things. Another thing is if her car is what I think it is,(new ford) than the ignition is 28$ or so wholesale or about 50 retail, plus 10$ at a locksmith shop to key it alike to your old key (if transponder equipped (likely)) If your ignition gave you trouble, sooner or later it will again. A lot of those ford locks are problematic, however it can just as easily be an issue with key wear (heavy keychain anyone?) If your key wont turn I would highly suggest a locksmith first as we are cheaper than the dealer, signifigantly less likely to bungle your cars expensive compnents than a mechanic, and will get you going without having to tow or drag anything anywhere.
If the person who had the trouble with the ford is still around, I will GIVE you a rebuilt ignition (give me year as indicated by vin) sans shipping... and simple instructions on how it can be replaced now that the old key works again..

Well I missed that part about graphite, but for the love of god, do NOT use powdered graphite in your locks, please people... it is not good for most automotive locks of this day and the ones it is good for it is way too easy to use too much. WD-40 is fine (not for single sided gm VATS) and used by many locksmiths, in freezing climates the use tri-flow

A simpler reason for the key not to be working is that the key has become rounded after being used for quite some time. Get a lift to the dealer, bring in the key code and get a nice sharp key. With my last car, the solution to the frozen ignition was quite simply switching to the back up key I kept in a drawer.

I did read on a fords website not to do that cause you'll fuck it all up more, so we didn't do that, but Actually that's what tripple A did to get it running again for us. but it wasn't a hammer, it was a flashlight, he said put the key in the ignition and lightly tap it a few times and it should come unstuck.

We'll take it in to get looked at fixed professionally from zines, cause there's a few more problems with it* like it leaking dark greesy oil after the tow man brought it home when it wasn't doing that before* And a few exsiting problems with it, that started up a day after we had it into the shop for a complete tune up, shoulda taken it back then an they woulda had to make it right and it wouldn't of costed us tons of money for a new inspection.
