You were never worthy enough for them to begin with. No loss there.

The point is that this has become very petty over all.

Democrats push for public transportation on one hand, then assault eighty year old delegates who use it on the other, if their politics don't suit them. In a polite society a gentleman is afforded his right to free speech, and to do otherwise is neanderthal behavior. The Democrat's behavior here is brutish and thuggish. Childish to the extreme.

This one couldn't agree more.

The First Amendment grants the exercise of free speech and peaceful assembly.

What was witnessed in St. Paul was anything but peaceful.

Police officers left a clear line of where the protestors could and should have been.  And these fools attempted to breach that line repeatedly, and then whine when they get pepper spray in their faces?

Granted, I'm sure he's talking about the Vietnamese who tortured him, but shouldn't he have enough sense to specifically say "I hate my captors" instead of saying "I hate Asians" in a derogatory fashion? Just my opinion that this proves he's further less sentimental/sensitive to Asian Americans who were born and grew up in the United States for several generations.

Why do people need to be "sensitive?"
What the hell is that all about?
We're not all "Alan Aldas."

Because there are plenty of "gooks" who will potentially be living under him as president. I knwo if I was an asian born and living here, I'd be pretty wary of a president who said that.

And under Obama there wouldn't be plenty of rural Americans clinging bitterly to god and guns?

Please, McCain said something stupid, as did Obama above.

But have you forgotten that McCain ALSO was instrumental in bringing about relations between the United States and the North Vietnamese, the very people that tortured him for 5 and 1/2 years?  How about the fact that McCain also broke with the President, and most Republicans and stated unequivacably that the United States using torture against enemies is wrong?

No man is perfect.  But to take one quote, and make it the backbone as an argument to cry foul against someone, in a moment of weakness, is quite weak.

Heart has told the RNC not to play their songs. So has Jackson Browne, Peter Gabriel, and several other recording artists who don't want to have their names associated with a political party that would like to censor them, have their works banned from libraries, and burned in bonfires. It's an image issue, and it's an issue of copyright to their own work. I hope they sue the republicans out the ass. Even the Pretenders have sued over Limbaugh's use of "Way to go, Ohio" as a theme to his nationally syndicated radio show. (It was quietly settled out of court, as Rush shoveled money into their pockets, and the courts placed a gag order on both of them from discussing the matter publicly. On the Dem side, you may remember Fleetwood Mac being used by the Clinton campaign. When they were asked if they had clearances to use the song, they replied no. But, the band was unanimous that the use of the song was appropriate. They gave the Dems permission.

I suppose this IS small potatoes, considering that republicans feel they know best how to control a woman's reproductive system. Ripping off someone else's creative work and dragging it through the mud by calling it their "theme" is pretty minor in comparison.

Really? How many Republican protesters interrupted speeches at the Democratic National Convention?

But aren't the protestors protesting White House policies? That might be the difference.

What difference would that make?

I laid down my eight dollars for their CD, therefore I can play the damn thing.

They should never have sold it if they want to limit who can or who can't listen to it. This whole discussion is just ridiculous!

At this point, I'll bow out of the conversation :D arguing politics via internet is a little pointless. Minds will never be changed.

It was Tipper Gore who tried to censor music...

You know, Al Gore's wife?

Oh man, this one remembers that.  And the unlikely person who stood out the most, John Denver in his unwavering support of bands like Twisted Sister and Ozzy Osbourne, because according to him. Music was music.  no matter your flavor. An attack on one genre, was an attack on it in its entirety.

Yea, I hear this everytime some of the democrats think they are looking good, and then realize, they are really looking stupid...again.

That was not an ordinary person. That was a rude, petty little tyrant wanna-be who gets an adrenaline rush by being naughty in public.

I think that pretty much applies to most of the so called anti-war/peace protesters running around with covered faces and smashing things.

Not only that but just how is a president supposed to manifest that sensitivity ? Such sensitivity for any constituenties is usually demonstrated by throwing our (tax) money at them.

As much as I thought your little rant on Code Pink was nutso. How did you put it? Proud?  As an acquaintance put it ......it ranked a 7 out of 10 on the WTF meter.

Yes, it is ridiulous that was the point. Rather then face the issues that are at hand this has become a he said/she said crap that often is completely off the mark.  Its merely there to rile people up and it serves no other viable purpose.  Therefore, it seemed absolutely reasonable to add in Heart.

thishereboi- that remark was specifically for Sanity.  I can be just as flip.

Are you sure the protesters were Democrats?  As for Obama's speech....with 80,000 people in a stadium couldn't there have been protesters, just tough to see?
Hell, when I was a kid I watched the 68' conventions and until '72 I thought there was supposed to be riots, tear gas and police with clubs beating up dissenters.
As for decorum, political conventions until recent times where not exactly known for it, there have been walk outs by delegations, fist fights, splinter parties started on the convention floors just all different kinds of protests and in fighting, out fighting etc. etc. etc. Not exactly what we see today.... As for the man holding the sign, I promise the one that grabbed the lady, wouldn't have been the one to remove him!...but, he was indeed just holding his sign and not raising hell. The woman looked a bit crazed to Me but, people do crazy things to espouse their  beliefs all the time.

I'm curious, was anyone killed or seriously injured? Was there any kind of serious property damage? Was "interrupting speeches" as bad as it got?

It's getting to the point where I think you have nothing else to contribute to the boards but flippant comments - go and bug someone else, please. You know you want to  .

Last I heard there have been about 130 felony arrests so far.

These hoodlums are fucking brownshirts, as far as I'm concerned. If they're not Democrats, then what are they. Why are they attacking Republicans... trying to intimidate people who are peacefully gathering basically to talk.Intimidate cities that might otherwise be willing to host political conventions.

It's outrageous behavior, Google it if you want all the facts.

Once again Cloud....They are War Protesters that have Demonstrated at Nancy Pelosi's ( I know the devil incarnate) office, they have protested Hillary Clinton, played pin the War on the Democrat....Who knows what political affiliation they have individually????  They have protested such things as poor medical treatment for Iraq vets, they have held vigils for fallen soldiers,  Was last night impolite? I would say yes but, when it comes to issues like war these things happen and McCain's belief in the Surge is what really brought them out last night. They are not attributable TO ANY POLITICAL PARTY!...I know Cloud you see us Democrat's hiding behind every tree...just waiting to pounce and take all of your money, make you sign up for socialized medicine and vote for a man with a funny name or something but, not the case...The lady wasn't ours....hell, when we we have political upheaval we save it for RIOTS and Chicago police with clubs beating people half to death...We Democrats sure know how to party!....

Aren't you the one stating all the time that "people around here have the right to post where and what they want, and that if you don't like it, to use the block feature"?

Not sure if you want to start tossing around the accusations about flippant remarks, if you know what I mean.

That being said you both have a right to state your opinions, and probably should look in the mirror sometimes with the accusations tossed out.
