You need to do stretching exercises every day. Yoga or Pilates, any kind of core muscle strengthener will help your back. As far as your neck, that's something to figure out immediately. Are you tensing your neck muscles in anticipation of the pain? You need to pay attention to keeping your posture correct. Maybe you could suggest a posture collar once the stiffness goes away. In the meantime, you may want to see a chiropractor. And how old is your mattress? If approaching ten years, it's due for a replacement.
