that study is non-sense...I would even argue that having your sub in bed with you stimulates the mind and the creativity and hence does not stunt or reduce brain power. Its hog-wash plain and simple. In any case, not only do I command my girl to sleep with me on my same bed, she also loves to sleep with me on my bed, and she knows thats where she belongs and it makes me and her happy [:D]

In addition to what everyone else wrote, your question, as it relates to the study, assumes all doms are male and all subs are female, which is a false assumption.

please notice the blurb: Sharing a bed with someone could temporarily reduce your brain power - at least if you are a man - Austrian scientists suggest.

if a dominant does not wish to sleep with his slave, that is his right.  but, to say no based on a suggestion by some austrians - well, i guess you deserve to miss all the cuddles and love then. [:D]

Isn't Austria also where that whack job kept his daughter hidden in the basement for all those years, while fathering his own grandchildren?

Just sayin'.

jesiul -> RE: Should subs sleep in the Doms bed ? (9/15/2008 5:59:14 PM)

Perhaps the main issue is the couples ages “couples in their 20s” While girls tend to have sleep-overs where their friends stay in the same bed, share beds with their sister and such. Young boys tend stop doing it, at about 5yrs old boys no wish longer share their beds, when friends sleep over they sleep in another bed or even another room. Mainly to avoid the any teasing that might occur.

However I believe that once men start sharing their bed with a companion, it becomes more familiar and even needed for deep sleep. The states, “Although the men reported they had slept better with a partner.”

Maybe they should have used couples in there late 40’s for the test.

Just a thought as to why such a study would have these types of results.

Don't forget the other whack job... you know, the short one with bad hair, charlie chaplin moustache and some very very deep self loathing issues that caused all sorts of headache for the world back in the 30s and 40s.

I’m the one who has higher stress levels when I share a bed.  I’m better at it now then a few years ago, the first few weekends I spent with R. I barely slept.  I would love it if he banned me to the couch!

StrangerThan -> RE: Should subs sleep in the Doms bed ? (9/15/2008 6:26:42 PM)

Where the hell else would she sleep?

It took me a long time to find the perfect woman to share my bed. I'm certainly not putting her on the floor, in a cage, in another room or anywhere else over night. In fact, it's rule number something or other in Stranger's book that she will sleep curled up close, naked, inviting and available. And yeah, I like all of those words, close, naked, inviting and available. Serves my need much better that way and  I'm all about my need when it comes to my woman being available for me.

Just sayin.

Sleep in general is a very personal matter. What i have always found facinating is that we as parents work hard to teach our kids to sleep alone, then expect them to be comfortable sleeping with someone else when they grow up

My parents slept alone from their 40's on (my dad slept at weird times and my mom snored). I remember thinking as a young teen how they must not be very sexual anymore. Then i grew up and my mom finally shed light into why my dad was always so grumpy when he came home for lunch and one of us kids was home sick!

That is a great story, made me smile!

Amen to that!  I love being able to roll over and be only about 1/4 awake, but alert enough to know that there's something I would like, and I'd like it now, and the pet being right there to take care of it.  He sure as hell doesn't mind being woken up like that either. ;)

From:
http://psychcentral.com/news/2006/12/29/male-gender-bias-in-psychology-research-continues/

~Friday, Dec 29 (Psych Central) -- Despite decades of striving toward equality, gender biases appear prevalent amongst researchers in psychology. In a recently published study, the investigators found that psychology researchers most often compare females against an implicit male norm, rather than on their own or vice-a-versa.~

This is just one from 2,290,000 articles about make gender bias on google.

W
hat a load of bollox. Everyone, just everyone knows that in a gender perfect world, men snore regardless of their orientation. Put a trans in the bed or more than two human beings and it completely throws out the research.

Where I sleep totally depends upon where I am allowed to. Thus far (give us a break it’s a honeymoon period) it has been in His bed and I have slept so deeply that I have been blissfully unaware what He has been doing. Does that support or refute the original research? It;s hardly valid anyay if it relies on what scientists suggest.

And for those that wish rubbish balanced:
http://www.tmj-pain.com/snoring.htm
  • 98.5% of snorers exhibit some apnic tendencies
  • 24% of males and 18% of females suffer from snoring
  • 60% of males and 40% of females over the age of 60 snore (female snoring increases after menopause)
  • loudness of snoring may reach as high as 90db (worker's compensation requires ear protection in workplace at 90db)
  • hypertension is present during wakefulness in approximately 50% of people with sleep apnea
  • over long periods, sleep apnea results in intellectual and memory deterioration
http://www.ayubmed.edu.pk/JAMC/PAST/15-1/Sara%20Snoring.htm
"15% of the males and 38% of the females said they snored in every body position."

Conclusions:
15% of all males think about sex some if not all of the time, while 38% of all females are adamant that they are still virgins after giving birth.
60% of all males spend the rest of their lives trying to convince 40% of all women that "babe, you do snore and I hate the competition... we need separate beds, better yet, I have this bright new cage just for you." 40% of women that suffer from "men will pause" claim that it's really an echo from him and demand studies be made to prove this very fact or else.

40% of men over 60 get blamed by 60% of all women that they snore when in fact it is the train that keeps rumbling through town as it use to stop for a quickie with her... now just rumble through... seeking the 22% that didn't snore before this "men will pause" which really should be "men willnot pause"....

slaves and submissives will sleep wherever their master/dominant/mistress/domme tells them to sleep.

Racquelle -> RE: Should subs sleep in the Doms bed ? (9/15/2008 6:46:52 PM)

I always feel a little sad for long term couples who sleep apart.  I know there are reasons.  I like having my mate in the bed - and it does certainly make it easier when I want to fuck before work.

kallisto -> RE: Should subs sleep in the Doms bed ? (9/15/2008 6:52:38 PM)

I want to be in His bed.  Naked, close, inviting, available, ready for Him.   Not being in His bed ... I can't imagine.

DesFIP -> RE: Should subs sleep in the Doms bed ? (9/15/2008 6:55:17 PM)

Well, after ten days without their partners, of course the young men studied didn't sleep well, instead the spent the whole night making up for lost time!

Neither of us sleep well, together or apart. If he cares to crash in the guest room, or the sofa, he's welcome to it. But it's my bed and my down pillows and I'm not willing to give them up. However to be honest, he suffered from sleep disturbances prior to my meeting him. Mine date from perimenopause and have not ended now that I'm finally fully menopausal.

MsStarlett -> RE: Should subs sleep in the Doms bed ? (9/15/2008 6:56:15 PM)

I'm a (well over) 40 year old Domme.  I sleep much better with a companion in my bed.  My pet sleeps where I tell him to because he is not my significant other.  When he sleeps over at my home, he's on the couch.  When my husband is out of town, we have been known to share a hotel bed.  When we all went to Atlanta together, hubby was in the bed with me, pet was in the floor at my side.  One has to keep the 'pecking order' clear.

Riggor -> RE: Should subs sleep in the Doms bed ? (9/15/2008 7:02:11 PM)

Well speaking as a man who rarely gets more than a hour or more of sleep a night, the only time I get any peaceful sleep is when my sub is by my side. I still have the same old nightmares and terrors but for the split second that I wake up, Im comforted that she is there and go back to sleep. She stays kinda wary though, she knows I sometimes I tend to fight back in my dreams...keeps her on her toes, LOL! Just kidding, She knows my nights are hell unless she is there, she is my angel and I love her.

I know only too well how that goes.  I've been woken up more than once by my partners and/or pet wrapping themselves around me, because I was, for lack of a better term, 'roaring' in my sleep.  It's nice to have it all register in that millisecond that everything is fine.

Apparently Australian slaves should not sleep in Master’s bed.
