RealmOfSenses -> Jabe Babe on SBS last night (11/29/2005 6:47:48 PM)

Any Aussies out there catch the doco on SBS tv last night called "Jabe Babe"? It was a great lil doco about a woman who has Marfan's syndrome explaining how it's affected her life and how it turned her towards being a dominatrix for 7 years. it was very nicely done.

here was the Synopsis:
"This documentary challenges mainstream society's obsession with genetic and social perfection, presenting the life of a young woman who has positively embraced imperfection. It explores the personal and medical experiences of Jabe Babe, who measures 188cm and has a life-threatening genetic condition called Marfan syndrome. The documentary looks at how Babe works and lives on the margin of society, defying expectations of the normal feminine body and sexuality. Babe's childhood was marked by instability and neglect. Along with the physical manifestations of Marfan syndrome, these experiences have affected Babe's capacity for intimate relationships and the choices of work available to her. The film shows Babe's consultation with Marfan syndrome specialist, Dr Lesley Adès, when she learns that due to advances in medical technology that the medical information that she has based her life on is now incorrect and there is every likelihood that she has a normal life expectancy. At 31, realising she now has a future, Babe takes the first steps to plan her life."
