It's all in your perspective. Most women like men to be taller than they are. I'm 5'4, almost everyone is taller than I am so it's not a problem. Admit to yourself (at least) that you do have preferences in the physical aspects of a Dom/ man. It's allowed.

I really dont have much preference either way, Laura.

And while you might consider that I am kneeling before you, I must remind you that the Aikidoka in seiza (kneeling) is in the Dominant position :)

kirameaMW,
I really liked your post, especially the last line. As I grow older, I am accepting of the fact that I'll never be a size 8 and it doesn't bother me much anymore.

Been 6' 8" tall my self I would like to met female (sub/slave) your height around here. There is nothing wrong with female shorter, however it is nicer to dance with one that is taller.

Being a 5'2" Domme, practically all male subs are taller than I am, except when they are on their knees.

The only issue I have run into is when they are on the cross or chains, I have to flog upwards to get their back, but I am at the perfect height to give them a sore ass. Hmmmmmmmm a stepladder as part of my equipment might come in handy.

You can probably find a nice black plastic milk crate at K- or Wal-mart for less than five bucks that would do the trick

or even a stepstool

much less space wasted than a stepladder

just my tuppence

I note in the answers to this question a lot of thought has gone into the practicalities involved where the subbie is taller but not so much about the psychology.

I can imagine if I went into a situation where the "submissive" involved is taller than me theres a certain degre of turn on ! The reason being that mentally to me , size is relative to independance and strength of that person. Yeah sure I know thats shallow , but I cant help how the ol brain works. I know for instance when dealing with a girl shorter than me D/s aside I tend to act protectively towards them. God knows why my brain does that , but it does !

On that basis then, a taller woman whos submissive to me is a turn on becuase the "protect the weak" brain is telling me shes strong and independant but has submitted to me instead, and thats a turn on !

I can understand the concern about the practicalities of some situations as my previous partner was about 8 inches shorter than me (Im 5ft11ish) and that made even simple intimate moments a little awkward. My advice ...... make sympathetic footwear choices to minimise your difficulties :)

Good luck ;)

on a somewhat smartalecky side note, if a male dom has a problem with a female sub being taller than him, he can simply decree that she only weat flats and buy him a pair of 'platform pimp shoes' (aquarium in platform optional) so that he will be taller than her

As an addendum to what I posted earlier, why do you (the Dominant) have to alter what you do to suit the submissive?

Make them jackhammer a two foot deep hole in the dungeon floor, sink eye bolts in the wall so they are standing in the hole when you beat them.

It is like painting my house. They want to be beaten by you, I am sure they would be more than happy to fulfill this little task first.

The problem here may not be that the males feel uncomfortable with a females height as much as it has been ingrained in the female mind that males need to be bigger, taller than they are. Myself I have no issue with the whole altitude thing. When I am out and about people usually think I am taller than I am. Unless the difference is significant, its the attitude not the altitude that matters. Sundew

Being close to 6 feet tall myself and having a father that was 6'4" to my mothers 5'4", i always wanted to find someone that was a good deal taller than i. I wound up marrying a man just a hair taller than myself and height was never an issue with us.

Embarking on a new journey in my life, i must admit that when i read profiles, almost immediately, i check to see how tall they are. This is just a personal preference, and by no means how i would judge a prospective partner. I've only met one r/t Dom and he was a bit shorter than i and though i was concerned at first, from the moment we met that concern went right out the window. As others have said, attitude is everything. He exuded dominance from every pore of his being!!

I would still love to find a partner a good deal taller than i, but more importantly would be what sort of a person he was and this is what i would judge him on......
