Many common infections are most infectious prior to the person being symptomatic. So if they're coming down with something then their urine will not be sterile and you won't know it. Like many things, this gets said alot, but I've never seen any refrence on it. I do know that another safety concern raised here is quite true - many medicines end up in the urine, so if there are health issues requiring medication, drinking piss might not be a good idea - although piss play that does not involve swallowing should be fine. (Does INCREDIBLE things for your hair, btw) But, about this - can anyone provide refrence that urine in a person with an infection or illness is not sterile? I'll even stipulate to and accept that urine may indeed not be sterile if somoene has a UTI - but, is there any refrence out there on other ill health interupting the sterility of urine? I have read a lot on Yoga boards about auto urine therapy, and this has never been mentioned - but, possibly because it is less of a concern in autourine therapy, since if i'm sick, i'm already sick, and can't get myself sick. As to fresh urine - most autourine practiconers keep a pitcher in the fridge and pour it over ice during the day. Generally, however, for drinking purposes, it is not kept for more than one day - they wash the jug each night and start again the next day. The most common amount consumed by yoga practiconers seems to be about 8 ozs a day, though there is a whole group that subscribes to the practice of 'everything before noon' (everything they piss out before noon goes in that days jug.) For topical urine therapy, there are three kinds - fresh urine therapy, what is called 'sterile urine therapy', which i know is an odd name because urine is already sterile, but, in this case, they mean that they boil it, then cool it slightly, before pouring it into the wound, and 'old urine therapy', which is what I usually use, for topical applications. That means the urine has been kept in a sealed container (otherwise, it is too good a growth meduim for various bacteria, if it can get too much air) for some time. It tends to become darker.
