Find me evidence that the Republicans have...

Democrats are releasing an ad in VA that says McCain still has cancer. I dont see McCain suing anyone.

Evidence?

You can't be serious.

The man's whole campaign has turned into a piss and moan fest about how the media is being mean to him and poor little Sarah.

Here is the ad...

This ad was put out by James Dean...Howard Dean's brother.

FYI

Matt Blunt speaks...

K.

slvemike4u -> RE: Obama campaign threatning legal action against critics (9/27/2008 4:59:47 PM)

So according to Matt Blount availing oneself of legal remedies is akin to attaching "the stench of police state tactics to the Obama-Biden campaign".....pray tell how is this so?

Sanity -> RE: Obama campaign threatning legal action against critics (9/27/2008 5:31:17 PM)

You dare speak out against Obama in Missouri, and the Barack Obama "truth squads" which includes various state and local law enforcement officers and prosecutors, leans heavily on you in a coordinated fashion...

You really don't have a problem with that? You can't see what's wrong with it?

<fast reply>

I've watched the KMOV piece twice now, and the two prosecutors interviewed talked only about responding to false/misleading ads by saying that they're not true. They didn't say anything about prosecuting anyone.

bipolarber -> RE: Obama campaign threatning legal action against critics (9/27/2008 5:41:21 PM)

I'm assuming these "warning shots" are aimed and focused on the bat shit crazy 501c's that produce such as as "(take your pick of candidate) has criminal connections" or "(TYPOC) has a social disease." Blah, blah, blah....

Frankly, I hope it works. Every damned election cycle, we hear from these GOP pissants who want nothing more than to muddy the water. Frankly, that goes for both sides. You notice that the Obama campaign gave notice to the dem PACs, saying he will immediately condemn such actions coming from their side.... but you notice that McCain has remained silent on this topic.

You do realise that is simply your interpetation of what's going on.Do you not?

Not everyone likes the truth, mike.

But you missed the part about making sure the discussion stays on the designated points???   Designated talking points a woman who seemed to be on the law-enforcment clock was reciting???

dcnovice -> RE: Obama campaign threatning legal action against critics (9/27/2008 6:03:24 PM)

Just watched it for a third time. The female prosecutor offered her opinion about what Missourians are interested in--issues as opposed to character attacks--but, again, neither she nor the other prosecutor proposed any response other than to offer counter statements. That's a far, far cry from prosecuting people.

Here you are, Rich. Ask...

Thanks, Sanity, but I want to see more than a local, initial report on something like this (though perhaps the seriousness of the charge is more important than the nature of the evidence, if anybody gets that reference).

Who signed the paperwork, authorizing law enforcement to insert itself into election politics?  At whose direction?

dcnovice -> RE: Obama campaign threatning legal action against critics (9/27/2008 6:14:46 PM)

I'm with Rich in wanting to know more. The more I think about the KMOV report, the more questions I have.

bold added

DC, according to what she is saying, law enforcement is going around, reminding people of what they are supposed to say.  In the friendliest way.

I cannot fathom how you don't see a problem here, my friend.

Musicmystery -> RE: Obama campaign threatning legal action against critics (9/27/2008 6:18:37 PM)

Rich, those are hardly equivalent statements.

dcnovice -> RE: Obama campaign threatning legal action against critics (9/27/2008 6:22:32 PM)

You raise a good point, Rich. Because the prosecutors were in civilian clothes and sounded like ordinary folks, the fact that they're part of law enforcement didn't fully sink in. If they're acting as law enforcement officers, then their deciding what ad subjects are appropriate is indeed disturbing.

Did you watch the video, Muse?  What would your reaction be to having a local sheriff tell a folk singer what the audience was and wasn't interested in hearing songs about?

I want to know a lot more about this story.

Musicmystery -> RE: Obama campaign threatning legal action against critics (9/27/2008 6:29:58 PM)

I agree that's disturbing, and I also want to know more.

Not the point I made.

Peace.

Well, if it meant that I didn't have to hear "Killing Me Softly" . . . [:)]

It would be great if he could sue the pants off some liar, but winning such a claim in court would be a difficult battle.
