Slavelary -> Found a new Master, now what? (9/29/2008 7:13:58 PM)

Well I might have found a new Master, one that is actually gay this time.  I was just at His house last Friday.  So tomorrow I'm to do some housework for Him.  Only thing is I haven't really proved myself as far as housework goes in my last relationship...  I'd hate to let this new Master down -- He seems really nice and everything...

I've already gotten some advice from a fellow slave:  bring a checklist so you don't forget anything.  I'm asking any Masters out there if they have any advice...

I am not a Master, but I have some advice:
Take a look at flylady. She will help you create lists that work for you. Yes, she is aimed at getting a dirty house slowly clean, but, you still will get some good solid ideas from her in terms of becoming a good housekeeper for the long run.

Part of it will depend on how much time you have.  I like to start with the bathrooms if I have limited time because those are very noticeable.  Step back and stand in the doorway when you are done and look in and see if you missed anything.

Next I normally tackle the kitchen - dishes, stove, inside of the microwave (often forgotten but very noticeable once someone opens the door), countertops, etc.

Then I stand at the front door and imagine I am just walking in and seeing what most seems out of place.  Maybe the carpet needs vacuuming, maybe there are things laying on tables - whatever is most noticeable.  I go back to the door again and again as I finish a task and see what the next most important thing is.  This has worked well for me in new places (and I have cleaned houses professionally).

The first time I cleaned my Master's house I realized that it really wasn't dirty.  It was a bit cluttered, but by rearranging things it looked much more open.  I concentrated on things like washing down baseboards where the dust had collected.  It will all depend on the shape of your Master's home, whether he gives you specific things that he wants done, the time allowed, and your willingness to take responsibility to take care of it.  I'm sure you will do a great job.

A good owner will understand that willingness to learn, and speed of learning far outweigh what is already known. If he is unhappy because you are not already trained...

I wouldn't stand for that.

Well I'm certainly no Master but I am a clean freak. tsatske also had very good advice, the flylady site is great for cleaning and organizing!  Do you know what you're suppose to be cleaning yet, the whole house or just a few things?

Slavelary -> RE: Found a new Master, now what? (9/29/2008 8:36:07 PM)

Well my last Master thought highly of my work even though He punished me severely last time.  He was very picky about my work though -- if for one speck of dirt He'd paddle me.

I guess it'll all depend on what the new Master will expect from me.  If He does like me I'll be at His house more often than my last Master (who lives in Buffalo), so maybe I'll fall into more of a routine and I'll know better what to do...

Dunno yet.

HalfShyHalfWild -> RE: Found a new Master, now what? (9/29/2008 8:46:57 PM)

ah, well maybe it's not to much yet. I tend to attack it all when I really want to clean. I wipe down every surface, move everything out, clean it, move it back in, I even clean the things in the cabinet at times if they seem dirty, a quick wipe down with a rag of Glass Plus or something like that. Like with kitchen or bathroom cabinets, I do all the surfaces, inside and out. The front, the back, the small top and bottom part. For floors I particularly concentrate  on the edges that are hidden under cabinets or what not. That's where most dirt seems to gather, I get that 'gunk' build up out that seems to happen at all crevices lol. If you want to email me on the other side, feel free please. I float around online a bit and sometimes 'forget' to check back. I hope it goes fabulously for you both though and a wonderful time for you!

Found a new Master? Go with the flow and go with your instincts.  It's going to take time to figure out what His needs, likes and wants are.  Don't turn your nose up at long distance, either.  I never thought it would work for me but it's grand

Drama is the number one enemy in most gay couples.

Drama is the number one enemy in any couple, not just gay ones.

Another not a Master here. However, have been where you are. Relax, any worthy Master will set you up for success.  If your Sir does not show you and give Clear directions as to what needs cleaning,  simply and respectfully ask.   Have a little note pad handy to jot down some notes even, to aid you. Good luck and have enjoy your time serving!
Cheers!

Thanks everyone!

Kitchen floors are the first thing I check out.

You got paddled for a speck of dirt?  Now for a maso like me, that's a reward.  Specially if he noticed that "science project" at the back of the 'fridge.  I think it used to be some kind of casserole, but morphed into a green fuzzy biosphere.

Lol!  It's not so much I don't wanna get paddled.  It's just I want to do a good job.  I'd feel better about myself as a slave...

About to head out to my new Master's place soon.  Just called Him but He seems to be still asleep, so...

tweedydaddy -> RE: Found a new Master, now what? (9/30/2008 9:28:57 AM)

The most important thing, do it naked.

Talandra -> RE: Found a new Master, now what? (9/30/2008 10:16:54 AM)

Naked is the most fun way *wink* alot of Master's like to see their slaves on hands and knees scrubbing the floor and that can always be rewarding in itself. But if you are sure about I would suggest that you simply ask your Master hoew he prefers things to be done. People can give you advice, but in the end he is the one who determines how things are do, so talk to him about it.

talandra (good luck and I hope you have fun)

Not a "Master", but definitely up on the 'house-servant' end of things... (we actually do a cleaning 'audition' with the ones who come to us as house-servants! *LOL*)... I'd say that, depending on the level of cleaning, naked is a really easy way to end up with some physical damage. Unless your new Master prefers 'green' cleaning materials, there is a good chance that some of the cleaners you'll be using are toxic and/or can cause damage if gotten on the skin (especially undiluted). Dusting and light straightening, dusting and hand-waxing floors, etc., can be done naked, but other jobs should include proper clothing to prevent chemical burns or excessive exposure to toxic chemicals.

Some things that makes a -big- difference to my Darling and myself include having the place aired out -- make sure the place -smells- as clean as it looks, not with heavy perfumes, but with clean, fresh air. Little things like hanging out pillows and quilts, strategically placing fresh herbs like lavender that have a clean but not oppressive scent, and clearing out 'musty' things like papers and airing bookshelves make a HUGE difference -- especially in a smaller place like the apartment my Darling and I share.
