I will not wear anything taller than 4 in. Mostly 3-3 1/2 because my feet can't take it. I have had many problems with them over the years from wearing higher heels. I want healthy feet.

What Rowena has done is shorten her achilles tendon. That is why she no longer can wear flat shoes. It would take months again for her to be able to "train" her feet to be able to do so. A platform does help this and your foot is not at such an arch. I was a dancer so I do have a high arch which makes it difficult at times for shoes to fit correctly. Just be careful when you wear the higher heels. This can cause hammer toes which is very, very painful, problems with your arch, heels and so forth. Youger woman can do it more readily than someone older, unless they have been doing this for a long time.

I remember my grandmother wore nothing but heels. Due to this, she couldn't wear houseshoes. It took time but she wore lower and lower heels to "retrain" her feet. This wasn't unusal in 50's and 60's.

I enjoy wearing heels, though I have never been ordered to wear any. My favorites are a 6 inch pair of candy apple red stilettos and a pair of 6 inch patent leather criss cross platforms.

i agree with sultryvoice. having been a dancer, that achilles tendon thing can be a big problem and it can snap in an instant--gotta put those heels down in plies!

most of my heels are 3-3/4 to 4" high as well. i walk in them (sometimes a great deal) but when i don't need to, i'm barefoot to make sure that i have a blend and not shorten my tendons (plus i like to go barefoot). after pointe shoes and heels, i want to still be able to walk for many more years to come.

6 inch and they were very difficult to walk in . I begged to take them off.

curious that. the women in my family have always worn them, and i've only a few pairs of shoes in my closet that aren't heels. perhaps it has to do with where you live or go?

sandals (open toe) are so much more comfortable for me than closed toe, so most of mine are the former. those long pointy closed ones are just not for me.

I've noticed that too. It is such that when my eye catches truly high heels, my eye follows for a long while. High heels almost always strike me as a dash of flair in a woman that is appealing.

It could be that most women work full-time jobs and are on their feet for 8 to 10 hours a day now too. It's hard enough for me to last all day in my sneakers running around, I can't imagine trying to do it in heels!

That's not my interest. I'd rather use some rope around those heels as leverage for a good old fashioned hogtie. Keep the shoes on, for me.

It didnt take practice for me, just the sense enough to rember I am wearing eight inch heels. It was mind over matter. It made me more confident in the dangerous work that I do, I no how it should feel, and when I am about to trip. Ballet boots are the real challenge, they will take time. So sexy there worth it

i have to chuckle at this forum....

If I dont do as i am told for the entire day yes i have been left to spend the night locked in my office next to the house fully dressed in a locking outfit and locked in 6in heels for as long as 36 hours total. the time also includes being locked in my outfit so i can never loosen the laces on my corset either so its 36 hours laced in a corest and locked in 6in heels sleeping in a chair so my feet are on the floor and then having to walk about the office the next day as i did the first day.

The highest heel I have is 6 inchs.
Since there are platforms under them. It is not as hard is it looks.

All the rest of my heels are 5 inchs. I doubt I will buy anything pass 7.
If I do. It has to be chucky heels. I personaly don't want to fall on my face

Ballet boots are interesting. I could never wear them.
But I would like to see someone in person walking around in them.
