Status: offline 		Wooooooo, i just stepped away from a long lengthy dicussion with an 18 year old boy on why and how a bullwhip is dangerous and why he shouldnt nooooooo not use it on his girlfriend! (who happens to be a girl i know offline). Though he wouldnt listen (and yes it was a loooooong convo) i told him he BEST not take off a finger or an eye and then go the hospital and tell them it was BDSM activities so the scene gets another bad name. LOL (and i thought i was dense)

Status: offline 		He's as likely to really hurt himself as anyone else. I think it's more stupid than dangerous. Yes bad stuff could happen, but I doubt it will and hopefully he will take it easy and really learn how to use his toys before putting someone in likely danger.

But, people on here rarely listen to sound advice, even when it's requested.

oh and i had to edit it, as i put my warning in with his excerts (twas gonna just throw them all together but i thought better)

EDITED to add.. he's not from here. Just a guy that she started dating who they decided to try BDSM with. She is sorta from CM its how i met her, sorta.

No seriously playing will bullwhips is very dangerous business.

I just don't think they are really going to get into this seriously to the level that requires serious worry.

Year's ago I was watching a bullwhip demonstration at Black Rose in DC. Now it was a demonstration. Where people are experienced are doing things or else they would'nt be showing other's how.

Anyway, the woman was on all four's, you cannot move while playing with a bullwhip. No idea why she moved even the slightest bit but she did. The top hit her with the whip. Ripped her vagina to shred's she needed reconstructive surgery.

Now, even though these things happen most people don't heed the warnings as Emerald said. They have no control over their lust and hurt people.

So for those who do just that. I usually suggest what a fem top taught me year's back.
She practiced on her walls. More accurately her peep hole in the house. Trying to hit it...barely brushing it. After she got accurate enough to hit the peep hole each and every time...she then put a piece of tape on it. Tried to knock it off without sticking it further.
It worked for her.
Although I must also say it took her three years to go from being able to hit it...to hitting the tape just right.

That is the top portion...what about teaching the bottom not to move?

Other people teach things different ways, I'm only speaking of one eyewitness account I have had.

A man who cannot master himself can never properly master anyone else. Sadly it seems like this is far more of the norm than I would ever like to admit.

Status: offline 		That's actually pretty good (the three years, I mean). I've experienced a single tail and loved it but it was with Tops who were very experienced. The best single tailing I ever received was from a Top who has been "specializing" in single tails for over a decade. He told me I could move side to side but NOT back as I'd be moving INTO the cracker and that could cause damage he'd rather not inflict. It's too bad I can't upload it here, but I have a pic of the beautiful V pattern he created on my back. I still love looking at that.

For those who are serious about learning to use a single tail properly I'd recommend joining a whip throwers/enthusiast club. There are many experienced people out there willing to help those who are new.

It isn't. Online is "now" though and in today's society that is what everyone wants. Right now and if it doesn't happen within the next 5 minutes it is too late.
Newbies are like that, it is so frustrating to try to protect one when they cannot control their urges. They run out and get hurt, then you get to hear the "yeah you were right" although that doesn't help the mentor.

There are also the type's who think a sub has nothing to offer an alledged dominant. Which is totally not true either.
At the party before our last that I hosted. I taught a new dom how to properly spank a person without bruising his hand. To where he could spank long enough and safe enough that no one got hurt and both parties were satisfied. I hear 2 month's later he is still going around praising me. He told me no matter what party or discussion group he had went to he could never have replaced the 30 minutes he had with me.

So, it is far and few in between but people like him make it all worth the time and effort. Even when you have a few going out making fool's of themselves.
I think people just don't understand what a mentor can do for them. Also understanding what a mentor actually is.

Status: offline 		bullwhips can be very dangerous...i've carried around a cheap one at work as a dancer and someone snagged it from me once to play around with it and cut me. and this was like a $20 whip

i'll have to look up that term "whip throwers"...i've always been interested in learning how to use one but could never find anyone to teach me.

I'm still working on meeting the world. One who did cross the So Cal path a few year's back and stayed a few years was Robert Dante. He also makes fetish videos. Google his name...and you'll find a remarkable whip thrower.

Status: offline 		I'd like to know what you refer to as a Bullwhip? here mosy people who use whips (for cattle) use either a 6' or an 8' Australian stock whip which has a cane or wooden handle and the whip is attached to a loop at the business end of the handle. I used to have what was refered to a Bullwhip in WA and that was a onepiece whip (handle and whip being platted as one unit0 and that was 8' long. Now i could take a cigarette or a card from you holding it between either your lips or fingers and certainly I have used it in a cabaret show and had the whip swinging in a circular motion (laterally) over people's heads.

Status: offline 		A close friend of mine has an 18 ft. bullwhip that he did order from Australia :) ( I can find out more details about it next time I talk to him) He won't let me near it when he practices cracking it. Which gets no argument from me, I usually go stand behind him, or go into the house. At full crack, it could break a bone.

18 year old boys, however, have very active imaginations and libidos. Sounds like this one found himself a live one.

A stockwhip, bullwhip, and snakewhip are all the same at the bussiness end- having a fall between the craker (popper) and the thong (the main plaited part of the whip). The difference is the handle- A stockwhips handle is seperate from the thong, either tied or plaited into place, a bullwhips handle is plaited inside the thong (and is usually shorter than a stockwhips, IMX), and a snake has no rigid handle at all.

Most of the whips I see used in the scene here on the east coast are Signal whips (originally for dogsleding), which lack the fall- the cracker is plaited directly into the thong.

Status: offline 		I won't use a whip because I don't know how to use it properly. If I decided I wanted to add a whip to the toy bag, I would take instruction and then practice until I was proficient before I ever used it on toy. I have no interest in damaging my property or the trust she has in me by playing with a tool I can't use safely.
Having said what I feel makes sense for me, I will also add that I've learned that you can't stop folks from making mistakes. Regardless of how clearly you see the mistake, folks are going to do what they're going to do, whether that means staying in a bad relationship, jumping into a dangerous situation without looking or putting themselves in a position to accidentally injure themselves. Every week we see folks complaining about a situation that could easily have been avoided with the application of a little caution and maybe a pinch of common sense. Regardless of the amount of good, level-headed advice you give, you can't stop someone else from charging into disaster face-first.
You've pointed out the risks but that's all you can do. If the boy is determined to proceed and the girl is willing to allow him to do so, there's nothing more for you to do. You might suggest they stock up on first aid supplies but they probably won't.

Status: offline 		Thanks folks for the heads up.. hell the name of whips change from not only state to state but from area to area.... BTW generally speaking an 18' bull whip is more correctly refered to as a Bullock Whip from the days when teams of bullocks or Ox were teamed to haul large heavy wagons, I can remember seeing 18 bullocks bring railroad sleepers from the guys high in the mountains (Actual Man From Snowey River couintry) who used to spend 11 months cutting hard wood into sleepers. To use a bullock whip you are by tradition required to have an inventive turn of phrase and turn the air blue so that the language rather than the whip goaded (or daoen right bloody well scared them) the bullocks or ox.
