Sanity -> McCain-Obama tie possible in presidential race (10/5/2008 9:03:16 AM)

What fun

quote:

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - What if it's a tie?

A handful of battleground states are likely to determine the November 4 U.S. presidential election and it's possible that Republican John McCain and Democrat Barack Obama could split them in a manner that leaves each just short of victory. If that happens, the Democratic-controlled House of Representatives would pick the president but it's unclear whether Democrats would have enough votes to send Obama to the White House.

The House last decided an election in 1824. But the legal skirmishing and partisan rancor would probably resemble a more recent election -- the 2000 vote in which Republican George W. Bush narrowly defeated Democrat Al Gore after a disputed Florida vote count and legal battle.

If its a tie, you cant go wrong with a Windsor.

We have plenty to choose from, but it would require undoing quite a lot of the Constitution.

However, since the incumbent is busy with that already a little more adjustment might not even be noticed.

I am unsure whether or not such a  vote would be undertaken by the out-going house (in which case you are dead on) or the newly elected house(in which case it's a rout)

I think that would be the absolute worst case scenario.  More important to me than who wins, is that the outcome is clear.

pahunkboy -> RE: McCain-Obama tie possible in presidential race (10/5/2008 9:18:53 AM)

I am thoroughly sick of the 2008 election.

patwi -> RE: McCain-Obama tie possible in presidential race (10/5/2008 10:58:30 AM)

I think this goes along with the article I read stating that McCain's camp would be switching from focusing on the economy and issue, to attacks on Obama and his character.

at this point i don't care who wins...i don't like either choice... this year there really isn't a choose the lesser of 2 evils for me.  if there is a tie, i might just go underground and hide out.  i don't think i could stand another minute of this circus, i mean election.  maybe they should all put clown noses on and we'll hold a deciding vote on who looks the best.         McCain would be a very scary clown.

NumberSix -> RE: McCain-Obama tie possible in presidential race (10/5/2008 11:25:30 AM)

considering his physical infirmities, I don't think he can balance on the little unicycle or climb into the little car, so that's pretty much out.

I'm tempted to say ANARCHY, but the majority of the sheeple of this country would do nothing.  Our one and only shot to make things right and cleanse ourselves of career politicians.

We shall invoke the 12th amendment, where by which my vote is counted as the decider.[8|]

Do blow jobs influence you?

Raechard -> RE: McCain-Obama tie possible in presidential race (10/5/2008 1:22:21 PM)

Yes, all forms of sexual service are taken into account. Are you a super delegate or a average delegate this is what is most crucial? By delegate I mean something else entirely.

It would be amiss of me to also not point out that acts of self humiliation also work; these are counted at 65% of the total judgement.

bipolarber -> RE: McCain-Obama tie possible in presidential race (10/5/2008 3:13:07 PM)

Considering that this article may have been in the works before the financial bailout bills, McCain's fake "campaign suspension," the wild ass claims that it was Obama's fault, and his pulling out of Michigan, I wonder how really accurate/relevant it is.

It's okay Sanity. I understand completely. You're trying to convince yourself that McCain still has a chance. Maybe you can pull some articles from just after the GOP convention? That will help. [;)]

Wait a minute ... i wanna get back to the "blow job superdelegate" talk.

MissSCD -> RE: McCain-Obama tie possible in presidential race (10/6/2008 5:57:27 AM)

The electorial college breaks the tie.  That is why it was created.

Thanks MissSCD; I'm still disappointed no one worked out my first post though - I thought it was quite amusing

No, as the article linked to in the OP points out, the House of Representatives decides in the case of any possible tie.

Looks like everyone is lining up in front of Aileen. I wonder if she will live up to her campaign promise.

bipolarber -> RE: McCain-Obama tie possible in presidential race (10/6/2008 8:07:41 AM)

Or, like the last time it was in dispute, a biased, partisan member of the disputed state's Supreme Court will saddle us with another loser republican.
