The binds were tight, so the numbness is not the first stage. So were you directed to say anything if there was any sharp pain, tingling, loss of sensation? Did the top check in periodically to test your hands? How were your hands tied?

Cannot do the tied up all night thing (I get up to go to the bathroom a lot and some nights have insomnia, not to mention I am 48 and not a bendable twisty anymore ;)   I do however love to have my hands held while my Dominant (and no I don't have one right now) fall asleep.

The longest I have ever been tied was 1/2 an hour at a play party and was bored, bored, bored (grins) just not my kind and I prefer metal to rope any day.

Thing is hunni, this isn't just about the OP.  Like every thread here, everyone reads them and that includes people new to the scene who have no idea about bondage and the risks involved.
There is something inherently wrong with assuming that an hours bondage is automatically shit.  For some people, 10 minutes of bondage could be an extraordinary feat depending on medical conditions, both physical and mental.  The assumption that an hour is less stuctured or something to be less admired than a 6 hour session is walking on dangerous territory because each person has different needs, requirements and boundaries.
 
And for someone to come into a thread and just offer up help for her to experience it like it would be totally possible regardless, when they are not even in the same country and have no idea of her medical background sends out the wrong signals and dodgy information to those who have no experience whatsoever.
 
If it was simply a case of 'lets talk about bondage experience and length of time' it would be all cool.  But to announce that an hours 'shit' shows a lack of common sense.

I understand where you're coming from, sweetie, but maybe (just maybe) the OP is also new and not here to cater to the other newbies, but is just innocently offering up her experience? I thought the "shit" comment was said in fun, so I'm seeing this from an entirely different angle, apparently! And ya know? For some people an hour would be too much, and for others it would be shit. And if this isn't a place where people can come to freely share their experiences, then where? Some think water sports is shit while others can participate in it daily. There are lots of differences in experiences here, as you know...(preaching to the choir here, lol). People "ew" things and "shit" things and "wow" things, etc. Weird, as I'm usually one of the first who complains about disparaging remarks...but I just didn't see it that way this time.

Thanks for sharing your opinion and explaining where you were coming from. I was kinda scratching my head for awhile there!

OMG!  We did this last night!  She held my hands over my head and pinned my legs with hers and we both fell asleep like that.  It was just wonderful, though when we finally woke up and shifted positions my shoulders were a bit taught and stiff.  Still, it was very sweet.   [:)]

I've left a body harness tied on a submissive for over a day; she was able to walk around but still feel bound. I use a small carabiner in her pubic area so she could disconnect the crotch rope for bathroom breaks . . . or when I want access.

OttersSwim, isn't it the most absolute fantastic feeling?  My mentor always and I mean always tied any subs that spent the night with Him, I had a panic attack and was going no, no, no, no, no.  He suggested holding my wrists with one of His hands.  I said Okay.  I fell asleep with the most wonderful feeling of being under His control but not panicking or anything, just the most wonderful feeling of being held in His control all night long with just His hands and strength.

I was surprised this morning at how thinking about last night affected me so.  I think for me, it was because of the connection that it fosters.  It is very loving and very safe and yet an expression of total submission and control.  I -love- those aspects of D/s that really become mental and emotional.

I am still trying to figure out if this post is about tight, restrictive bondage or just any type of bondage in general. Length of time would really be dependent on the type of bondage we are talking about. Tight, restrictive bondage could be limited to even minutes.....and then there are some types of bondage that would be ok for extended periods.....hours....maybe even weeks. I know that there are some types of bondage that I have been in for up to 10 days before without any ill effects. Or is the post not about ill effects?

The top was asleep for most of it till I woke him up, so no, not checking on me other than asking how I felt before he went to bed. I was told to wake him up if I got numb or sore or got pins and needles, and I did. My wrists were crossed behind my back and tied that way.

Hmm. I suppose some of this is down to definitions of bondage... I mean collars are bondage in a way, but some have those on permanently. I wasn't trying to derail a fun thread with mentions of injury, it's just nowadays it's the first thing that pops to mind when long-term bondage is mentioned.

The OP is a young girl and in English teen speak 'shit ey' means 'I expect you think I'm lightweight' or 'a poor effort' and most of you have shot her down, when she probably wanted some encouragement.
There was a thread recently about a dom having a heart atack and being unable to return to the sub who had to remain tied until a friend came by.

Yes, as with most questions, the answer is "IT DEPENDS". If the restraints are something like well fitting leather cuffs, and the position doesn'tt put stress on joints, it's possible for many people to be restrained for many hours without problems. The key really IS that supervision bit - when someone is restrained, it is the responsibility of the person in charge to ensure that nothing interferes with breathing and circulation for very long, and checks that regularly. The tighter the restraint, the more frequently these things need checking. Are you 100% sure NOTHING could interfere with someone's airway?
For me - longest I've been restrained was about 4 hours. I guess it could have gone longer if time had permitted, but after that I needed a bit of time on release to get circulation going again before I could stand. As a dom I've never left someone restrained unattended for more than a minute or two - but I'm probably that bit paranoid about what I'd tell the coroner if there was an accident.

6 hours in rope in one position? She must have been a lot younger than me. I wouldn't have been able to move after that long a time.

I know that one padded leather ankle cuff attached to a long leash can allow someone to sleep while still turning over and moving during the night. But although it's technically bondage, I don't really think of it as that. Bondage for me is by definition restrictive and restrictions of the body have a limit because they restrict blood flow. Restricted blood flow has a definite time limit on it for safety's sake.

So usually after an hour max he will change the tie. We encorporate that change these days to include a quick bathroom break, drink of water, tissue for a runny nose, put my hair back in it's scrunchie etc. That minute or two break allows me to attend to a lot of things that would otherwise cause problems with the play.

Other posters' comments about nerve damage and tingling are not to be taken lightly. 

I have read that no one should be tied for longer than an hour or so, especially in "stressful" positions (basically anything that would make you uncomfortable). 

I urge everyone to do some serious research into the subject before attempting anything lasting.  You might be doing serious damage to you or your partner.
