RiotGirl -> Chatrooms (12/5/2005 8:05:20 PM)

i'm checking out the chatrooms on CM and uuuuuuuh they're kind of wierd. Anyone frequent them? Is that like a seperate "world" from the forums?

siamsa24 -> RE: Chatrooms (12/5/2005 8:08:01 PM)

I made the mistake of going into them once. Never again. I was so confused, I had no idea what was going on and the people were quite rude.

RiotGirl -> RE: Chatrooms (12/5/2005 8:11:59 PM)

They're uuuuh, wierd? i walked in on a girl throwing a tanturm and awhole bunch of other wierd stuff. Definetly not polite. Definetly definetly. eh well. Just wondered if it was different crowds.. cos it sure seems like it

siamsa24 -> RE: Chatrooms (12/5/2005 8:15:10 PM)

I think so.

Maybe it's because the stuff in the chat rooms is gone in a second and people can act all stupid, but here, anything you say stays there for everyone to look at whenever they want. You can stull sound stupid, but more people see it so more people will make fun of you [:D]

siamsa24 -> RE: Chatrooms (12/5/2005 8:55:38 PM)

Wow, I just tried to go in again to see if I was wrong about them and I wasn't. It's the same stupid conversations and the same desperate messages from people who want to jerk off to me on my non-exsistant web cam

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Chatrooms (12/5/2005 9:07:18 PM)

I stumbled into them while trying to set up a private chat one time........ alarming!

I'm glad that there's another option for folks to have fun with, but definitely NOT for me!

DesertRat -> RE: Chatrooms (12/5/2005 9:32:08 PM)

I find all chatrooms pretty disquieting. Just too chaotic for my taste. So I avoid them like the plague. Oh wait....we actually have the plague here in New Mexico...hmmm...and chatrooms, too. Coincidence? I think not.

Someone, I forget exactly who, once posted that the chatrooms and message boards are different because of their "staying power". If you write something on the boards it is there for everyone to see as long as it stays posted. When you write something in the chatrooms it is ephemeral and fulfills the instant gratification need that so many possess. The chatrooms tend to act along the lines of "Wham bam, thank you m'aam," while we usually put a bit more thought and dedication into what we post.

siamsa24 -> RE: Chatrooms (12/6/2005 6:05:30 AM)

Yeah, I just said that a few posts up [:D]

FangsNfeet -> RE: Chatrooms (12/6/2005 6:39:07 AM)

The chat rooms are filled with more hellos and good byes than anything else. There's hardly ever any serious discussion leaving ppl to just joke around. I've never seen an actual debate in the main CM chat room. All the other chat rooms hardly ever have anyone in them and normally ran by someone just looking for that speacial someone or just wanting some MOD POWER. Anyhow, chatrooms are normally where the trolls go the most after there attempts on messaging profiles dose them no good. So all the chatrooms seem to be good for only joking around when you're completly bored and can't sleep.

LOL yep. I'll go in them when I am depressed and need a really good laugh. I find it hilarious to 'see' the antics that go on.

MHOO314 -> RE: Chatrooms (12/6/2005 7:34:33 AM)

it's like being the new kid trying to get space in the neighborhood sandbox--I so don't hang there

leli -> RE: Chatrooms (12/9/2005 12:05:07 AM)

i stopped going into the CM chat rooms because the average age in there seemed to be 12, ...heck if i wanna hear chat like the kind that goes on in there i 'll go to the nearest playground and listen in.

mkswing -> RE: Chatrooms (12/9/2005 8:29:16 AM)

i tried once to log into these chatrooms but could not.. so i guess i do not have anything to share save this post here.

RosaB -> RE: Chatrooms (12/9/2005 9:29:41 AM)

I've pretty much found that it doesn't matter where you go, even if the chatroom is on a general site, listing the age group 40 and over, the conversation usually ends up being quite juvenile. Sometimes I just sit facinated and marvel over how could these people be over the age of 13 much less 30, 40 plus. Sure we all like to get silly ocassionally, but a lot of those folks seem to take themselves quite seriously.

Yep, CM chat rooms make you wanna scratch ya head as well. I haven't visited them in ages. I don't think I've ever seen anyone from there post on the message boards or they use a different nick there.
