Sanity -> Joe The Plumber: Obama Tax Plan 'Infuriates Me' (10/16/2008 8:16:17 AM)

Interesting video. Watch as ABC's  Terry Moran argues for Obama while Joe "Joe the Plumber" Wurzelbacher refutes her every point.

Let me get this straight....Joe the plumber doesn't appreciate a progressive tax....really....and let me follow that with who gives a shit. This is one plumbers opinion, and apparently McCain's new linchpin for his campaign.....giving all of us a break on the Ayers bullshit line.
News flash taxpayers don't have to like paying taxes,I know I don't ,but some of us realise there is a responsibility that comes with citizenship....and the blind luck of being born American....Joe the plumber if he is lucky enough to buy this business should count his blessings that he lives in a country that afforded him the opportunity to go from worker to business owner...Suck It Up Joe

ThatDaveGuy69 -> RE: Joe The Plumber: Obama Tax Plan 'Infuriates Me' (10/16/2008 8:49:18 AM)

McCain keeps refering to Obama's tax plan as "redistribution of wealth".  Well, DUH!  What does hes think the Regan- and Bush-era tax cuts for the wealthy were?  The lower- and middle-classes giving up more and the wealthy giving up less - sounds like a redistrubtion plan to me!  I think  it's about time I got on the receiving end o' that redistributin'!

Also, at what point would Joe the plumber set a tax? $300,000? $500,000?  Or maybe just high enough so his newly-purchased business isn't caught in the net?  Besides, if he's right on the bubble all he needs is a decent CPA to whittle his corporate income down a bit.  Problem solved.

Hell I don't like paying taxes either. However, I would rather be making $250,000 or more and paying more taxes than $50,000.00 and paying what I do now. Do the math and it's not that difficult.

McCain's campaign is just a sinking ship trying to grasp at anything they can to try and stay afloat.

NuminousLeader -> RE: Joe The Plumber: Obama Tax Plan 'Infuriates Me' (10/16/2008 9:39:53 AM)

I could not agree more.

I make a good living, not McCains idea of a good living, more like Obama's and it's about time those who can afford paying a little more step up to the plate and stop whinning.

It's simple math, plus the last 7 years proves that tax cuts to the rich do not trickle down to those on the bottom so everyone is happy, No those savings go to opening up new shops overseas to save money and make even more

OrionTheWolf -> RE: Joe The Plumber: Obama Tax Plan 'Infuriates Me' (10/16/2008 10:22:33 AM)

How does increasing taxes on big business actually help? Won't they just raise prices to compensate for it? Isn't that just the consumer actually paying the tax? Does anyone know how much small business contributes to the amount of jobs? Tax cuts or tax increase is just a shell game folks. It moves money around, and either way it will not wind up where it needs to be.

Sanity -> RE: Joe The Plumber: Obama Tax Plan 'Infuriates Me' (10/16/2008 10:31:26 AM)

Obama might as well be holding a gun to Joe's head, taking the guy's wallet, then going down to the railroad tracks and handing out fifty dollar bills to all the hobos hanging out down there.

There is really very little difference.

Where in the Constitution is a President empowered to do that? Where does it say that the Government gets to decide who makes how much money. Joe's argument is that he can do more for the economy with his own money by expanding his business and hiring more employees than Barack Obama possibly could by taking that money away and giving it to some bloated federal bureaucracy...

Which is dead on right.

Barack Obama's plan will only serve to drive entrepreneurs offshore, which is something we really need less of, not more.

NuminousLeader -> RE: Joe The Plumber: Obama Tax Plan 'Infuriates Me' (10/16/2008 10:35:16 AM)

Then please explain why Bushes tax cuts have not worked??????????????????

The rich enjoy alot of tax cuts now, so why is everything so fucked up?????????

Seems giving a tax break to the little guy is only fair since nothing has trickled down

slvemike4u -> RE: Joe The Plumber: Obama Tax Plan 'Infuriates Me' (10/16/2008 10:37:07 AM)

Or ,and maybe you hadn't considered this Sanity, maybe you had and just don't care,Joe could put his money under the mattress...and simply enrich himself.Citizenship comes at a cost ....I would think a nice Republican like yourself would recognise this fact.Wars are expensive you know, the less fortunate send their sons to fight them,is it too much to ask for the more fortunate to kick something extra into the kitty to pay for them?

Lordandmaster -> RE: Joe The Plumber: Obama Tax Plan 'Infuriates Me' (10/16/2008 10:37:14 AM)

It's really cute to see Republicans arguing that taxes are good.

NuminousLeader -> RE: Joe The Plumber: Obama Tax Plan 'Infuriates Me' (10/16/2008 10:38:37 AM)

Ahhh....not cute....just really sad.

Better yet,ask those who have used those argument on their tax returns....Wesley Snipes should be your first call. There is a very good reason the I.R.S. enjoys it's reputation as one of the most vindictive arms of Gov.

Sanity -> RE: Joe The Plumber: Obama Tax Plan 'Infuriates Me' (10/16/2008 11:26:18 AM)

If you were to watch the original Joe The Plumber video you would see that Barack Obama isn't really talking about tax cuts, he's talking about redistributing the wealth. As things stand, the bottom 40% don't pay any taxes now and yet Barack is promising them a tax cut while raising taxes on the top 5% who already pay among the highest taxes in the world.

That's not a tax cut, that's stealing. People have learned that they can vote in a thugocracy that will steal for them, and that's dangerous for obvious reasons. It boils down to Barack buying votes with other people's money, and the trend is ominous for the American way of life, it's yet another house of cards just like the Fannie Mae / Freddie Mac fiasco that cannot possibly work for very long before it all collapses in a disasterous heap of greif and dispair.

Do you ever get tired of posting these fallacies....most people who don't pay tax's....don't file tax's...therefore they won't be getting any of these tax cuts.....BTW you do realise the very nature of a cut....means you are paying tax,if you weren't what is there to be cut....There was a time I found you amusing....tiresome is a more apt description at this point.

NuminousLeader -> RE: Joe The Plumber: Obama Tax Plan 'Infuriates Me' (10/16/2008 11:35:54 AM)

Really..... The highest taxes in the world???????  Gee we must not have ONE FUCKING TAX  ATTORNEY who can figure out a millions of ways to lessen that!

Give me a fucking break......ahhh..believer what you will

But it comes down to the old question

Are you better off today, than yu where 4 years ago????????????

Sanity -> RE: Joe The Plumber: Obama Tax Plan 'Infuriates Me' (10/16/2008 11:43:48 AM)

How will penalizing employers in order to buy votes for a politician improve the economy one whit. How does teaching an animal (man or any animal) to beg for handouts benefit it...

It doesn't, it kills it.

NuminousLeader -> RE: Joe The Plumber: Obama Tax Plan 'Infuriates Me' (10/16/2008 11:47:40 AM)

You're reading the wrong tax plan,  That's McCains where he will start taxing the employer portion of insurance as income.

I own a business, my employees will be screwed if I have to start taking out taxes that McCain says will not hurt them.

I would like a tax credit for keeping jobs here instead of getting one for shipping them overseas.  I'll still make a dam good living.

bipolarber -> RE: Joe The Plumber: Obama Tax Plan 'Infuriates Me' (10/16/2008 11:51:51 AM)

Joe needs to hire at least one new employee: an accountant.

If he buys this plumbing business, he really should look into one, because a good accountant will show him how to keep his business' profit margin well below the $250,000 bracket simply by re-investing what money he makes BACK INTO THE FUCKING BUSINESS and expanding. This includes investing in new employees, new equipment, facillities, and so forth. If a plumbing business is making more than a quater of a mil, and can't chalk up most of it's profits into business expenses, then "Joe the Plumber" is too fucking STUPID to succeed in a game that's given him every opportunity to do so.

Yes, he can buy the fancy car.
Yes, he can buy the house that makes all his neighbors envy him.
Yes, he can afford to make that "business trip" out to Vegas, and spend tons at the chicken ranch, without his wife knowing...
AND he can do it without having to ever, (ever!) show that his company has made more than $1.95 last year.

Wake the fuck up, Joe.
