Status: offline 		Women who drink a lot of coffee may see their breasts become more petite, according to the results of a new Swedish study.

    "Drinking coffee can have a major effect on breast size," said Helena Jernström, a lecturer in experimental oncology at Lund University.

    But while a regular brew appears to have a somewhat deflationary aspect, there is also one very positive effect in that coffee reduces the risk of breast cancer.

    Woman with an average weight but big breasts and a high number of mammary glands run an above average risk of developing breast cancer.

    Previous studies have shown that women can reduce this risk by drinking at least three cups of coffee a day.

    Jernström wanted to know if there was a further correlation: If drinking coffee and breast size were both connected to the risk of developing breast cancer, could there also be a link between coffee and cup size?

    Studies carried out on almost 270 women showed that there was indeed a clear connection between coffee and smaller breasts. The results of Jernström's findings have been published in the British Journal of Cancer.

    Status: offline     		  Damn, if I knew this was true, I'd've been drinking coffee endlessly every day. Hasn't done a damned thing for me yet.
      I'd like to know, though, what scientist thought to start this study? Some nerdy scientist guy trying to combine his two favorite things?

    Status: offline     		Who knows..no idea if its true or not.  I always thought it was hereditary myself. 
    My mother had large breasts..so did my sister and so do I.
    So did grandma from what I understand...so they are in the family.

    Though I never have drank much caffeine.  Not for any one reason.

    Guess i don't have that gene.  I drink a lot of coffee and they certainly aren't small.

    Status: offline     		My breasts are large and it runs in the family.  I loved regular coffee through my teens and twenties, but now drink decaf because I can't handle the leaded stuff anymore (heart palpitations and such).  My family has had no issue with breast cancer ever.  I think it has more to do with genes, exposure to toxins and radiation, and overall hormonal make up than what is consumed.  Methinks, this study is a farce as the sample size was not remotely large enough to extrapolate these kinds of conclusions.

    I have been drinking coffee since I was about 5, Grandpa would slip it in the bottle when I was younger, but I dont count that.

    Status: offline     		Saying there's a correlation between coffee and smaller breasts does not say that there is any proof of coffee drinkers reporting their cup size going down. The correlation may be that women with smaller breasts prefer coffee in larger numbers.
