CalifChick -> Wooden paddles with ergonomic handles (10/22/2008 11:08:28 AM)

My fella's favorite implement, other than his own hands, is a wooden paddle.  However, the vast majority of wooden paddles have flat handles, which can quickly cause your hand to become tired.

I've checked the websites of the "major players" in the kink store genre, and found nothing in wood with a round handle (and certainly nothing with a padded round handle).

I found one or two specialty sites with sort of a teardrop-shaped handle - very wide and round at the heel of the hand, and very narrow at the finger end of the hand, which seems like it would be tiring as well.

Any suggestions from anyone on where to find a wooden paddle with a round, padded handle?  He prefers close-up work, so it doesn't have to be a huge paddle or a long paddle.

I make all custom wood paddles and bondage furniture. I can do a padded handle paddle for you  in 3/4 inch thick oak for $35 plus shipping  in any color or finish and any type and color of material for the handle wrap.

Cali,

I make the finest paddles in the US and my handles are amazing.  However, BSB gave me techno gremlins and nothing seems to work, I have a fresh CD with photos I took of stuff today but can't get a thing to load.

Cali,

I charge $150 for the exotic wavy paddles and $40 for the thinner stingy ones.

Uh huh.....That's ok.. I don't mind taking the blame for something 3,000+ miles away.  After all. I am the youngest of 5, I'm fairly used to it!

Woman, just take that as a maintenance spanking because daddy had a bad day!  Oh, and another one for not saying what you think of my work since you have used it rather intimately! [sm=evil.gif]

BossyShoeBitch -> RE: Wooden paddles with ergonomic handles (10/23/2008 10:26:19 AM)

No no.. The maintenence spanking is a regularly scheduled occurance..
This would be a "just because I can" spanking and the 2nd one is a punishment spanking for forgetting to mention to Cali what beautiful things you do make and how much I enjoy when you use them on me...[sm=flash.gif]

and no, I didn't correct you.. That's a figment of our imagination!  *ducks*

Cali,  you can see pictures of Michael's stuff from Folsom Fringe on his profile too...

He sent me pics, but carry on... I would hate to interrupt a good spanking!

I didn't like the way many paddles felt in my hand, so I took cardboard and a pair of scissors and experimented until I found a shape I liked.  I have a picture of 'Big O' that I can send.  (I let the first sub that a new paddle gets used on name the paddle.)  I transferred the cardboard shape to the wood and after scroll saw rough cutting and dremel finishing, it fits perfect.

If you mean to round it out and give the handle a more three dimentional buildup, maybe you can build up with silicone, a layer at a time.  It would be soft, moldable, and non-slip.  Or build it up, and cover it in cord, leather or whatever.

Try a sporting goods store -
Go to the tennis section.  Get some shock absorbing tape.  It is a padded tape.  Build up the handle to what feels comfortable. Then cap it with a shock/sweat absorbing sleeve.  It will feel good and look good also.

Racquelle -> RE: Wooden paddles with ergonomic handles (10/25/2008 4:59:59 PM)

Hardware stores sell a liquid vinyl that you can dip tool handles into, and does pad a bit and add some shock absorption value.  I have problems with my wrists and shoulder, and some woods transfer way too much shock up my arm, especially leather wrapped flogger handles.  Have him try a broad-backed hair brush with a comfort-grip handle, available on the cheap at every drug store.  Wooden spoons often have a cylindrical handle that I find more comfortable as well.  I have given up tools that are physically heavy, and have modified my technique a bit.  One thing I do is get into a position where I can let my shoulder fall into the blow rather than trying to propel my arm with a lot of force, and I try to pick-up velocity only at the very last part of my stroke.  I also warm-up before a session, sometimes by getting a nice hand, elbow and shoulder massage by the intended victim.

ok, I was looking around, found this post and had to say these paddles are AWESOME! (Just ask Mercnbeth!) Every sub I've seen hit with one of the wavy paddles has loved it and asked for more. Add to that the fact they are so unusual looking /puuuurty and you have an all around winner. I've seen other things he's done as well. We're talking furniture quality work! A spreader bar he's made was almost too pretty to use! If you want high quality and beautiful wood products.. this is the place to find them. Believe me, when I can afford one, I will own one.. or more!

SimplyMichael -> RE: Wooden paddles with ergonomic handles (6/11/2009 12:58:47 PM)

Thank you Beach!  I am making a few last things before I sell off my equipment so these things will be pretty much one of a kind items.

BeachMystress -> RE: Wooden paddles with ergonomic handles (6/13/2009 12:33:41 PM)

Noooo.. I've not been able to afford one yet! *sniffles* :-(
