We had a friend who we used to call an "honary lesbian" He was the only one I ever knew in real life and it was more of a joke than anything else. I have seen the term on here, but usually just ignored it.

P.S.--I did a bit more of snippet reading on the thread and there was something about straight men liking cock.  I know a number of straight men who have had sex of one form or another with men but still consider themselves straight.  Does that fit my personal definition of straight.  Nope.  Do I think it's technically accurate (I use the Kinsey scale when speaking about sexuality).  Nope.  Do I staunchly defend peoples' rights to use terms that obfuscate rather than illuminate despite the fact that it leaves me shaking my head.  Yup.  Terms are definitely an opportunity for further conversation.

Why people call themselves what they call themselves is irrelevant. The underlying attitudes are what is important. If they're doing it to be idiots and asses, then that's going to show up and good luck to 'em finding anyone who'll put up with it. If they're doing it to try to find an identity for themselves in the world, that, too, will be reflected in their behavior. Some people just don't know what they are -- so they try on different labels trying to find something that fits. If they're finding what they're looking for that way, yay for them. If they hope to reduce confusion... well... that's probably not the thing that's gonna do it.

It would be great if we could stick to just labeling cans at the grocery store, but even there, the name on the can is less relevant than the contents inside. If you have a can of peas, even if its labeled 'cranberry sauce', it's still going to be peas... if you wanted cranberry sauce, you're going to be disappointed... but if you wanted peas, then the fact that they're calling it cranberry sauce doesn't make a darned bit of difference. The only real value in labels is to help people find their peas or cranberry sauce easier.

Let's take a turn of the thread here.. What exactly attracts a het male to a lesbian, he obviously knows that she is not going to be interestedand  what she does is not of his business.  (I'm not addressing the bisexual folks as that is an understood reason.)  Just those straight guys what are drawn to lesbian women.
