pahunkboy -> theft, advice maybe ?? (10/29/2008 6:06:27 AM)

The other night I awoke to find my patio door had been stolen.  Being that they dont all fit eachother it had come loose and I hadnt fully secured it as my back is wrecked lately.

So a patio door- new, with the white grates in it- got up and walked away.

You know that I have been trying to complete the porch enclosure....and it goes on forever.

So  I have not called the police - I dont plan to claim it on homeowners.  I thought maybe somehow I could get who ever took it to return it....maybe???

What an asshole jag off!  how dare they!

anyhow- Im trying to figure out what to do if anything in regards to it.

it was heavy so a meak person could not have carried it.  but I live on a busy street= so maby someone threw it on their truck for their onw place- or as a halloween prank.

either way, it SUCKS.
it isnt just about the door- but now that opening is on the street... maybe I will OSB over all of it.

the fuuckers.

First the door, next the whole house. Better install a couple of webcams. Start a pay for view website. Then you will have witnesses when your house is stolen. The pay for view website may generate sufficiently money to buy a new door.

Also hire a private investigator to track down the thief. And a hitman to off him when found.

Ask your neighbours if they have seen anything suspicious - and do look in their garages. You also might put up a sign in the garden: Door Stolen. Reward for any leads to the culprit.

And do report the theft to the police. Do.

Hi Rule, yeah- for sure.  My nightmares were odd on that too.

I asked Karen,  she is pretty up to date on things...  she hadnt seen anything.   She was with Ray- one of the few guys who actually will help to get the other window in.

I thought I was pretty prepared...but I guess not.   Like there are other more valuable things in the house. I am home nearly all the time.  With ta busy street noise is normal so it is hard to tell an intruder from a passerby.

It ruined my day all day yesderday.  I might have a different door I can use.   Then I wondered maybe my political sign (3rd party) has anything to do with it.

Maybe I will board over it for the winter.

The call did not go well.

Well you know how I am.  Vigilante justice and all that.  It did get me an accomidation from the sheriffs department when I ran the drug dealers out of the neighborhood.

I'd walk the small town when I'm on my route for citizens patrol.  Look for my door.  Criminals are stupid people.  They usually are not smart enough to venture too far away from where they live and breed.

So, my advice is..if you see your door call the cops.  The idea for stolen door reward doesn't sound bad either.

Learn to sleep lighter.  Maybe go for some sort of alarm system if you are really worried.  Just keep in mind if you hire a place you're in for at least a year.

Hi Gloria.   Cops are.....  the assumption is that the victim is a perp.     Jim might have some ideas.  He isnt available.

I think I can live with out that particular door- item.   But what is not acceptable is  further intrusion into my home.

I dont like to put good money after bad.

I was thinking maybe I need to skin this cat- via feng shui.

THAT is an annoyance.    The place has conflicting energy fields.  [says my feng shui master]... I have slowly figured out how to reduce the flow where it is too much and keep it where I want it.

Day after day of the noise and grime wears....

The recession has made that part better!

Weather is blustery now- the barometer has me wacked.

if I board up those 2 openings- then i get no light there- yet- I could go wild with insulation and have a tighter house....hmmm

LadyEllen -> RE: theft, advice maybe ?? (10/29/2008 7:24:20 AM)

Sod the door, get a dog, a big one, and dont feed him after lunchtime.

Mind you, in the UK that would get you up on a charge with the first asshole who got in to steal and got bit.

Don't you work with the cops with the patrol you do?  You'd think they would think a bit higher of you because of that?

Yep, you could go with insulation.  Since living here...as you've seen insulation is my friend.  The house had a lot when we moved in but now it has a lot more.  It's amazing knowing the cost of building a brand new house from scratch...and knowing how shotty the houses are built in California.
Times have changed.

I did not tell dispatch I was in crime watch.

I heard that dispatch blows off crime watch members as being pesky.

But ya know this really blows the crime watch theory out of the water.  They told us to give a call that no tip is too small.   what a bunch of nonsense.

an actual theft is too small.

As part of the garb thing- I am required to attend the meetings- the meetings put on hold for budget cuts- when it starts up again tho- I am going to tell them- their watch is flawed.
and there is no need for me to attend.

--  call me- does not mean call me.       so whateverrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Well, I could say wanna borrow a gun?  Though, as it has worked for me over the year's I'm getting older and don't condone it for all problems.

Sorry to hear they basically have blown you off.  Get a security system then?

I have spoke to Jim, and mom.   I dont want to over react.  Mom said- "its Halloween, that happens"   Jim said, 'someones fucking with you"....

I guess we do have a big number of pranks.

But you know- with world events on edge- it has me on edge too.  Mostly the ridiculousness of it all.  I always told my brother- ( who plays with bigger boys then I)  that the most at risk a person is - is when they sleep and element of surprise.

One day this will be comical to me.  And I do want to get over it.  But knowing me- I wont get over it- until I pout and feel bad first.  work it thru....

distraction is a terrible thing.  when over draft fees hit me to nearly $600 over the summer-  that had me mad.

So- I must keep my eye on the ball.  On what is of my -?  the important stuff.

While I do want to go thru the emotions here- I dont want to over react and badly manage my life into a predicament that doesn't have to happen.

or something to this effect.   :-)
